Today's Astronomy Picture of the Day is a video arranging photographs by the Cassini spacecraft into views of what flying towards/by Saturn would look like. It's stunning and inspiring.

Meanwhile, I do so love memes, not least at moments right now when I'm afflicted with Writer's Slowdown or something. I got this from the incomparable [livejournal.com profile] igrockspock: Ask me about a pairing (or character) I have written (or haven't and you think I should write) and I will give you five facts about them or a ficlet or a song that is CLEARLY THEIR SONG or what they order from the Chinese place down the street, etc, etc.
ETA [livejournal.com profile] sharpestscalpel wrote an absolutely gorgeous ficlet about Gaila taking McCoy flying, and Gaila and her life.

Title: The One Where Tim Climbed Through Steph's Window
Fandom: DC Comics
Rating: R
Pairing: Steph Brown/Tim Drake aka Batgirl IV/Red Robin
Content Advisory: Cursing, incipient pegging, confusion, het.
Acknowledgements/Author's Note: Written for [livejournal.com profile] shiny_glor_chan: "DCU, Steph/Tim, pegging or intercrural sex." A sequel of sorts to my story "By Their Own Beauties" adjusted for [what I know of] present canon.
Disclaimer: None of these characters or their settings belong to me.

So, at the other end of this week, I asked to be told about stories I never wrote, and wrote bits of them. Then I cringed at all the typoes, bad word choices, and so on, so here are the completed fragments (as it were), polished up a bit. To start with, the NUMB3RS one for Tigerbright: Spoilers for season finale. )

Lord of the Rings hobbitfic: Dreamflower requested Rosie, Marigold and a Ruffian. )

And now Star Trek Reboot! For the perspicacious Mardia, Mirrorverse, nonexplicit. )

Azephirin read my mind and asked for Kirk/Spock/Uhura. )

Libitina requested Uhura and the Spockim. )

Spikeface was so inspiring she got two, both about Leah McCoy of the ISS Enterprise. )

This one is violent and bloody. )

Kittyjimjams wanted Mirrorverse family bonding, and Graceandfire wanted Mirror!Kirk to make Leah smile. )

Graceandfire is full of glorious Mirrorverse suggestions, actually, such as Mirror!Kirk being... caring. )

Rodneyscat made sure I didn't neglect Chekov and Sulu! )

Ninhursag wanted Jim and Gaila. So do I. )

Secretsolitaire had a solid idea about Jim and Bones )

Starsandgraces wanted captain and pilot debating mythic figures. Whilst drunk. )

Ever since I wrote 'Light, Inaccessible', Lomedet has wanted this timestamp. )

Jamjar requested genderswap, whee! )

For Leftarrow: Cadet Pike, George Kirk, Academy shenanigans, abuse of Shakespeare, and Winful Winona! )

And then there's the one where Kirk/McCoy and Kirk/Spock/Uhura get along quite well in the end. )

Last but not least: for Joyshine's incredible request '...the one where Character A realizes that one of the most wonderful things about Character B and Possibly Character C is that they can take whatever s/he can dish out', an assortment of brief excerpts. White Collar, Star Trek, DC Batverse. )

As my WIP Amnesty week continues, for whatever that's worth. At least I'll have these in my writing journal to refer to.

Title: Neither Pink Nor Pale
Fandom: DC Comics
Rating: As it is: PG. As it would have been: R/NC-17 .
Pairing: Batgirl III/Robin IV (Cass / Steph)
Notes: This was meant to be a cross between a 'day in the life' and a PWP, but even PWPs need a plot, and this one's just didn't... coalesce.

Read this.
It's the closest yet we've come to a Case for Stephanie, and in many ways gives us the statements the symbolism of a Case would make.

At the end of her article [livejournal.com profile] monkeycrackmary thanked the creators of that comic; I share her gratitude, but I also want to thank *her*, for founding http://girl-wonder.org .
browngirl: (Watch How I Soar (monkeycrackmary))
So, recently [livejournal.com profile] petronelle decided, on [livejournal.com profile] hradzka's advice (which should have been warning enough), to play a game of "Never Have I Ever Written". the rules, for later rounds )

I was going to write a list of all the ficlets people wrote that I loved, but, well, that was *all* of them. But I thought for archival purposes I'd make a pile of the ones I wrote, in all their typed-directly-into-the-comment-box scruffiness.

Concerning Bart using his powers for sex; PG-13ish )

On the subject of three special little words; PGish )

Dick and Tim, Birdboys; PG )

On the novelty of sex in a bed; R )

A man matched with his mentor's lover; PG )

Upon the subject of sex toys; PG-13 at most )

Last but not least, NC-17 femslash )

All things have their times, including story ideas. I can no longer write the story whose idea I detail below; it's been superceded, both by [livejournal.com profile] glossing' superb "Some Contradictions Found in the Afterlife" and by the canon events that sparked it. I waited to write this story because I wasn't good enough yet to write it, and now it won't be written. So I'll put the idea here, and one day another story may grow from it. first line, and notes )

My submission for [livejournal.com profile] remixthedrabble, posted here with submission headers (because, well, why not?) 4 AM Chocolate Kiss, Cass/Steph )

And, for [livejournal.com profile] brown_betty's Documentation Challenge, an entry from Overheard in Metropolis and two from Overheard in Gotham. Overheards in the DCU )
browngirl: (Default)
I wrote these all into comment boxes, and have resisted the urge to edit since, and argh. But anyway. Let me post them before something else prevents me from doing so. And you should click through and find the links to these memes on people's journals, and read the spectacular results from others.

For [livejournal.com profile] glossing: In a Gotham minute, PG. One minute, everything's normal. )

For [livejournal.com profile] petronelle, Batman needs a Robin. PG. The only good thing about being Batman is getting to work with Robin a lot.  )

For [livejournal.com profile] sister_wolf: Interspecies relations. PG-13. Wally looked at the alien octopus.  )

For [livejournal.com profile] jubilancy: The Top Ten story I've been wanting to write since I read the graphic novel. PG-13. Glenn was dancing faster than light, hearing faster than sound, and he could see the stitching in everyone's costumes.  )

For [livejournal.com profile] miakun: Odd and even Robins. PG. 'What was that?'  )

Bonus for [livejournal.com profile] petronelle: Robin and her Batman. Probably a sequel to the second. R. 'Whoa,' Steph says.  )
browngirl: (Thugamuffin (monkeycrackmary))
In my head, I'd dedicated this segment to [livejournal.com profile] monkeycrackmary, who made me love Jason Todd. Then she put Rosie The Riveter on my userinfo, so I think the dedication will be outside my head too. *beams at Mary*

Title: Bodies of Touch and Taste

Breasts everywhere, Jason thinks, and wobbles, and he's not gonna giggle. )
browngirl: (Robin in Flight (monkeycrackmary))
[livejournal.com profile] petronelle is currently doing a drabble exchange in her journal. It's full of wonderfulness, and if you share any of her fandoms (which include but aren't limited to DC Comics, the new Battlestar Galactica, Supreme Power, and Bujold's books) you'll enjoy a look.

I wrote this little thing for it; it's DC Comics, gen, Dick and Steph. one hundred words about a working relationship )
