Today's Astronomy Picture of the Day is a video arranging photographs by the Cassini spacecraft into views of what flying towards/by Saturn would look like. It's stunning and inspiring.

Meanwhile, I do so love memes, not least at moments right now when I'm afflicted with Writer's Slowdown or something. I got this from the incomparable [livejournal.com profile] igrockspock: Ask me about a pairing (or character) I have written (or haven't and you think I should write) and I will give you five facts about them or a ficlet or a song that is CLEARLY THEIR SONG or what they order from the Chinese place down the street, etc, etc.
ETA [livejournal.com profile] sharpestscalpel wrote an absolutely gorgeous ficlet about Gaila taking McCoy flying, and Gaila and her life.
browngirl: (Bridge Officer (captaincadet))
So, at the other end of this week, I asked to be told about stories I never wrote, and wrote bits of them. Then I cringed at all the typoes, bad word choices, and so on, so here are the completed fragments (as it were), polished up a bit. To start with, the NUMB3RS one for Tigerbright: Spoilers for season finale. )

Lord of the Rings hobbitfic: Dreamflower requested Rosie, Marigold and a Ruffian. )

And now Star Trek Reboot! For the perspicacious Mardia, Mirrorverse, nonexplicit. )

Azephirin read my mind and asked for Kirk/Spock/Uhura. )

Libitina requested Uhura and the Spockim. )

Spikeface was so inspiring she got two, both about Leah McCoy of the ISS Enterprise. )

This one is violent and bloody. )

Kittyjimjams wanted Mirrorverse family bonding, and Graceandfire wanted Mirror!Kirk to make Leah smile. )

Graceandfire is full of glorious Mirrorverse suggestions, actually, such as Mirror!Kirk being... caring. )

Rodneyscat made sure I didn't neglect Chekov and Sulu! )

Ninhursag wanted Jim and Gaila. So do I. )

Secretsolitaire had a solid idea about Jim and Bones )

Starsandgraces wanted captain and pilot debating mythic figures. Whilst drunk. )

Ever since I wrote 'Light, Inaccessible', Lomedet has wanted this timestamp. )

Jamjar requested genderswap, whee! )

For Leftarrow: Cadet Pike, George Kirk, Academy shenanigans, abuse of Shakespeare, and Winful Winona! )

And then there's the one where Kirk/McCoy and Kirk/Spock/Uhura get along quite well in the end. )

Last but not least: for Joyshine's incredible request '...the one where Character A realizes that one of the most wonderful things about Character B and Possibly Character C is that they can take whatever s/he can dish out', an assortment of brief excerpts. White Collar, Star Trek, DC Batverse. )
browngirl: (Kink Meme Redshirt (asimaiyat))
Oh, it is being such a Monday over here. Please help distract me with this meme, which I snagged from [livejournal.com profile] magickalmolly:

1.) Comment with any character you know I've written.
2.) Receive three bits of trivia about their sexuality: practices, preferences, experiences, fantasies, kinks, etc.
3.) Profit!

(Right now I'd settle for nonprofit...)
browngirl: (Minas Tirith (movie still))
Recently, I offered to write timestamps for some of my stories, and I also offered to do so in conversations earlier and only got around to those now. Forthwith:

DC Comics, hard R )

DC Comics, PG )

NUMB3RS, PG with warnings )

Doctor Who, PG-13 )

DC Comics, hard R )

browngirl: (Boing!)
I need a city icon.

Fandom: DC Comics
Rating: As it is: N/A. As it would have been: R
Characters: Dick, Jason, Tim, Steph, and Carrie, in assorted pairings.

browngirl: (Big Damn Hero)
Title: Alignment
Fandom: DC Comics

browngirl: (Watch How I Soar (monkeycrackmary))
So, recently [livejournal.com profile] petronelle decided, on [livejournal.com profile] hradzka's advice (which should have been warning enough), to play a game of "Never Have I Ever Written". the rules, for later rounds )

I was going to write a list of all the ficlets people wrote that I loved, but, well, that was *all* of them. But I thought for archival purposes I'd make a pile of the ones I wrote, in all their typed-directly-into-the-comment-box scruffiness.

Concerning Bart using his powers for sex; PG-13ish )

On the subject of three special little words; PGish )

Dick and Tim, Birdboys; PG )

On the novelty of sex in a bed; R )

A man matched with his mentor's lover; PG )

Upon the subject of sex toys; PG-13 at most )

Last but not least, NC-17 femslash )
browngirl: (City on the Water (jemppu))
[livejournal.com profile] deconcentrate wrote a story, "And a Million Deaths to Die", which started an avalanche in my head. This is the result: it's a sequel/answer to that story, so that one should be read first.

Title: Alone to Tell Thee
Fandom: DC Comics AU
Characters: Barbara Gordon, Birds of Prey; Jason Todd
Rating: PG or so?
Summary: But not erased.
Disclaimer: These characters aren't mine, nor is their universe.

Barbara Gordon sits at a kitchen table in a basement apartment, typing on a small personal computer.  )

I wrote these all into comment boxes, and have resisted the urge to edit since, and argh. But anyway. Let me post them before something else prevents me from doing so. And you should click through and find the links to these memes on people's journals, and read the spectacular results from others.

For [livejournal.com profile] glossing: In a Gotham minute, PG. One minute, everything's normal. )

For [livejournal.com profile] petronelle, Batman needs a Robin. PG. The only good thing about being Batman is getting to work with Robin a lot.  )

For [livejournal.com profile] sister_wolf: Interspecies relations. PG-13. Wally looked at the alien octopus.  )

For [livejournal.com profile] jubilancy: The Top Ten story I've been wanting to write since I read the graphic novel. PG-13. Glenn was dancing faster than light, hearing faster than sound, and he could see the stitching in everyone's costumes.  )

For [livejournal.com profile] miakun: Odd and even Robins. PG. 'What was that?'  )

Bonus for [livejournal.com profile] petronelle: Robin and her Batman. Probably a sequel to the second. R. 'Whoa,' Steph says.  )
browngirl: (Thugamuffin (monkeycrackmary))
In my head, I'd dedicated this segment to [livejournal.com profile] monkeycrackmary, who made me love Jason Todd. Then she put Rosie The Riveter on my userinfo, so I think the dedication will be outside my head too. *beams at Mary*

Title: Bodies of Touch and Taste
Fandom: DC Comics
Series/Segment: A Certain Star, Part 4
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Starfire/Robin II/Wonder Girl I (Kory/Donna/Jason)
Warnings: Het, slash, femslash, threesome, sex pollen
Spoilers for: Again, nothing, really.

Breasts everywhere, Jason thinks, and wobbles, and he's not gonna giggle. )
browngirl: (RobinPile (jemppu))
Ganked from [livejournal.com profile] sister_wolf

Give me one of my own stories, and a timestamp sometime in the future after the end of the story, or sometime in the past before the story started, and I'll write you at least a hundred words of what happened then, whether it's five minutes before the story started or ten years in the future.

My stories are all listed in my Memories, and my comics stories are organized with tags. (Despite the userpic, tho, any story is eligible, even my oldest LOTR ones.)

Like [livejournal.com profile] sister_wolf, I'm setting a cap on replies: mine is 6. I'll do more after that if my fingers and wits hold out.

Posted for my Unofficial WIP Amnesty Week
Title: Beneath the Banner of the Bat
Fandom: DC Comics
Rating: As it is: PG-13 As it was intended to be: R
Pairing/s: Assorted Batfamily slash, het, and femslash.
Notes: This completely crack-addled Fantasy Elseworld, which began with the image of Bruce Wayne in a Kilt (I think the link is in the notes somewhere) and as an excuse to use the line, "have this one washed and brought to my quarters", would have been written for the [livejournal.com profile] dc_flashfiction Lord King Badfic Challenge, but I wrote three whole stories for that challenge. Also, as may be seen in the second IM conversation, I had too much shame to write down what the plot was leading me towards.

The iron gates of Gotham before him, his army victorious and weary behind, Wayne the Bruce at last attained the city of his birthright )

#2 in my Too-Big Five Things seriesish thing.

Pairing: Talia Head / Jason Todd
Warnings/Features: het, other pairings contemplated.
Spoilers For/Based On: Batman Annual #25
Most Marvelous Beta Reader: [livejournal.com profile] blythely, who also provided scans and CBRs and tons of useful advice.
Dedicated to: [livejournal.com profile] monkeycrackmary, because she totally, totally combed his hair.

Jason's laugh swells in Talia's ears. )

This is my other story for [livejournal.com profile] crackformary, and I wrote it because I've been in love with Mary's Gold-verse ever since I first read it, because [livejournal.com profile] brown_betty wrote a story in it too, and because Mary keeps coming up with wonderful, shareable AUs, as any fan of Pretty Good Year knows.

And because I've fallen hopelessly in love with Robins.

Title: A Heart In Port
Fandom: DCU (AU: "Gold-verse" from "Five things that never happened to the Robins" by [livejournal.com profile] monkeycrackmary)
Summary: You may have to do some things alone, but your family will be waiting when you return.
Characters: Dick, Jason, Tim, and Steph.
Rating: PG
Dedication: To [livejournal.com profile] monkeycrackmary for, among many other things, writing AUs which draw others in to want to inhabit them.
Beta reader who deserves all gratitude: [livejournal.com profile] petronelle, who looked this over at a moment's notice.

It's time to be back. )
browngirl: (City Glitter)
So, I wrote a pair of iittle stories for [livejournal.com profile] crackformary, and I wanted to tuck copies into my journal because I'm completist that way. Henceforth.

Title: Game Plan
Fandom: DCU AU (Story idea from a discussion with Mary sometime)
Summary: On the way back from nowhere.
Characters: pre-COIE Jason Todd (Robin II) and Kara Zor-El (Supergirl)
Rating: PG-13 for discussions of sex
Dedication: To [livejournal.com profile] monkeycrackmary because she made me love even-numbered Robins.

How come I have to be the girl? )
browngirl: (City on the Water (jemppu))
[livejournal.com profile] jemppu drew The Gotham of my dreams (which may also be seen here) and graciously allowed me to make this userpic from it.

I haven't written much lately. These two bits of fic (a double drabble and a drabble-and-a-half respectively) are kind of rough, but I need to get back in the groove somehow.

A little bit of odd Robin-ness:
Tim rehearses the motion )

And a smidge of Even Robins:
being Robin sometimes takes Jason to stranger places )
