The house is a food-filled wreck.

Rather fewer of Wolf's family than I'd feared gave me the hairy eyeball, and more of our mutual friends than I was expecting came, and I think I made a new friend. I didn't witness the actual circumcision (and we will not have The Circumcision Flamewar in the comments to this post, thankyouverymuch) and I'm sweaty and in dressy clothes and had a surprisingly good time, all told. Having a party to celebrate someone's arrival in the world is a good idea.

More in comments (probably tomorrow, since I can't figure oui how to get out of going in). I should really get up and start cleaning up the house.

My family, my privilege - sorry, but if there were any you're in line behind me.
(If nothing else, I know where they live >:)

... I know where they live ...

Yes, a definite advantage!

And, yes, I've always liked the idea of a baby-warming party (though I didn't score many points with my siblings' Catholic (!) in-laws when they heard me calling the christenings "baby-wettings").

I'm glad to hear the happy chaos was ... happily chaotic.

One interesting aspect of the event was how much it remionded me of a church event from my childhood. I think that one reason for that is the way most attendees, especially the extended families, were dressed. (And a moment to say how wonderful [livejournal.com profile] temima and [livejournal.com profile] hfcougar looked, the latter a couple hours after returning from Pennsic!) Our friends were mostly dressed "up", too, but a little less so, and some were dressed casually, and far from it being a bad thing, which of course it wasn't, I found that comforting, in its way. It helped defuse the formality for me, or something.

There's a lot to be said about this, but I at least wanted to get the core of the idea down.
