One interesting aspect of the event was how much it remionded me of a church event from my childhood. I think that one reason for that is the way most attendees, especially the extended families, were dressed. (And a moment to say how wonderful temima and hfcougar looked, the latter a couple hours after returning from Pennsic!) Our friends were mostly dressed "up", too, but a little less so, and some were dressed casually, and far from it being a bad thing, which of course it wasn't, I found that comforting, in its way. It helped defuse the formality for me, or something.
There's a lot to be said about this, but I at least wanted to get the core of the idea down.
