So, the International Day of Femslash this year will be July 17, 2010. Last year I failed to write anything for it, SO. If you're running your eye across this, you're in Star Trek Reboot fandom, and you feel like it, please toss me a prompt or three? I can't promise anything, but I really want to try to write a story for the IDoF this year.

(Also, does genderswap count, do you think? I owe my Leah McCoy a happier alternate life, and I was thinking her genderswapped-Reboot variant Lenore migt enjoy being exasperated by a tall athletic blonde named Jenny Kirk who's got a talent for getting into scrapes.)

Winona/Uhura--Winona's told she needs to brush up on the culture and language of Species X for some big political confab or else she'll be grounded. So she's hella pissed, and not taking at all well to being stuck with a cadet of all people for her tutoring sessions.

Why? Because I've never seen it before and it would be HOT.

Okay, I'm already madly in love with the above prompt of Winona/Uhura, but if genderswap counts (and I don't see any reason why it wouldn't), I'd love love love to see a genderswapped McCoy getting together with either Uhura, Gaila, or hell, even a genderswapped Kirk or Chekov.

I know I saw Lenore McCoy/Polina Chekova somewhere. *considers the non-painful adventures of genderswapped Dr. McCoy*

I feel like I'm writing a Christmas wish list!

Gaila/non-human OFC, Aliens Made Them Do It
I know the prompt is kind of ironic, but I love the trope and it doesn't seem fair that Kirk gets to "sacrifice his body for the cause" all the time. Also, I love how you write Gaila, OFCs, and aliens so this will be win-win-win for me. :D

Speaking of Leah, would it work out ok if she got to play with some nice, non-Machiavellian lass? Or would Kirk ruin it somehow?

Winona and temporarily-gender-swapped Pike, helping him get comfortable in his current body. Jim finds out. Does he freak out at the thought of his two parent-figures having a roll in the hay, give them a thumbs up, or get totally pissed because he had the same idea but Winona got there first? Or any other reaction you like, so long as at least one of the three is insufferably smug (it could totally be Pike.)

Bonus fourth prompt: Uhura and Spock, where Spock is as in Reboot canon but is female underneath that sassy instructor's uniform. Not sure how this would work, exactly, but Vulcans =/= humans so the gender constructions could be all deliciously catawampus. IDK it'd be cool if Spock was female (whether biologically or culturally or on any point in that continuum) and only Uhura knows it.
From: [identity profile] rubynye.livejournal.com
Ooooh, I love how you think!

Gaila/non-human OFC, Aliens Made Them Do It
BWEE. I'm tempted to write Madeline from the Bridge Crew. Or an alien OFC from the aliens Making Them Do It.

Speaking of Leah, would it work out ok if she got to play with some nice, non-Machiavellian lass? Or would Kirk ruin it somehow?

... oh, we shouldn't tempt him. If they're lucky Kirk would kill the girl quickly and relatively painlessly. [livejournal.com profile] graceandfire wrote a story called "Sunshine" about what Mirror!Kirk did to a girl who crushed out on his Dr. McCoy, and I can't picture my letting Leah have a dalliance going any other way.

Winona and temporarily-gender-swapped Pike, helping him get comfortable in his current body.
I WHOOPED. But I think this one will need the comic stylings of an artist such as yourself. Occasionally I can write hilarity when it strikes me, but not consistently, and Jim's reaction could be nothing but hilarious.

Uhura and Spock, where Spock is as in Reboot canon but is female underneath that sassy instructor's uniform.
Oooh, this one is sciencefictonal in the bets ways.

::fistpump::

I have read "Sunshine" and oomph, yeah. But maybe if Kirk felt like he was in charge-- if he allowed or arranged the encounter as a gift? I'm mostly playing Devil's Advocate here-- you have very good reasons for not allowing this in the MU, but I really want Leah to have a nice day for once so I'm just making wistful suggestions. ::sadface::

YOU'RE MANIPULATING ME, AREN'T YOU. >>

But maybe if Kirk felt like he was in charge-- if he allowed or arranged the encounter as a gift?

I literally facepalmed (at myself, at myself). I, uh, wrote that. It's titled "Those Who Favor Fire" and it's wrenching and... didn't end well for the third person (not that he deserved it to). I just... my mirror!Kirk is one of my more jealous characters (and what does that say about my conceptions of monogamy and jealousy, I wonder?)

I want Leah to have a good day sometime too. Maybe I'll write about the time Kirk took her and Joanna on shore leave and showed them something gorgeous and was so solicitous and gentle that Leah found herself smiling. BUT ANYWAY. I have a drabble to come up with.

From: [identity profile] kayliemalinza.livejournal.com
I do remember "Those Who Favor Fire" but that wasn't really a gift, was it? A gift to Cupcake, mebbe (going away present, lol) but from what I remember Kirk was punishing Leah and acting out because he was upset with his injuries.

I take your point, however. His jealousy is practically inescapable.

Brainthought: ya know, a lot of jealousy is rooted in insecurity. Kirk's power (and thus his security) over Leah is expressed or facilitated by, althouigh not rooted in, his physicality. So, ya know, if his strength were diminished, and his capacity for dominatory penetration was removed, wouldn't he be more insecure, and therefore more jealous?

I highly doubt it would lead to a "good day" for Leah, but a gender-swapped mirror!Kirk could be interesting. >>

P.S. yaaaay drabble.

*chokes and flails*

You know, it's really interesting to talk about ho my stories look to people not inside my head.

And did you mean to give me the mental image of a temporarily-genderswapped female Mirror!Kirk playing threateningly with a dagger and making horrible puns on the similarities between stabbing and penetration? Because THAT IS WHAT IS IN MY MIND.

Lol, ok, but just remember what my Kirk POV is like. I can make no promises that what I observe is what actually exists. It's all ~interpretive. ::waggles magic postmodern jazz hands::

Maybe I didn't mean to give you that image, but I am not complaining.

so help me, I want to write this in much the same way that I want to keep breathing at regular intervals.

I'm probably too scattered to save it up for the actual challenge/celebration, but, uh, I would LOVE to play with this bunny of awesomesauce if I get a chance, assuming there aren't any objections?

Well, in the interest of full disclosure I have almost a full draft already, and should be posting it near the end of next week. However, Rubynye and I once wrote for the same kinkmeme prompt and it turned out awesome, so go ahead! The fandom needs moar Winona and moar Pike. Espesh in sexeh situations.

alas, I have not girl!Pike icon.

YAYYYYY!!!

So, ok, I'm plowing through one with frightening speed too, because seriously: that idea was possibly the best one ever. If you really don't mind me posting a response too, I'll wait until after you've got yours up/ have given the go-ahead? (I wish to emphasize that I will totally accept your veto at any point, because, you know, it's your awesome idea that I am shamelessly hoping to play with, here.)

*cheers for you BIG TIME*
*Loves this whole idea in a million badwrong ways*
*bows to Rubynye for generous and enthusiastic facilitation*

Ah, no worries. It's a fairly cut-n-paste idea as far as I'm concerned-- take Trope X and Insert Characters A, B (and maybe C.) What's important is how the idea is realized and fleshed out. I'm a huge fan of infinite variations on a theme-- that's part of why I like fandom so much-- so don't hold your breath for my veto, 'cause it ain't gonna happen. :P

Maybe when we've both posted, we'll include a link to each other's stories? I'd definitely like to read yours, at least.

RUBYNYE.

I JUST (JUST) WOKE FROM A DREAM WHERE YOU AND I MET.

SULU WAS IN THE HOSPITAL GETTING HIS TONSILS OUT AND HE WAS GETTING CONSTANT VISITORS AND I WAS THERE TOO BECAUSE I HAD MONO AGAIN, BUT I WAS LIKE, GOTTA GO MEET RUBYNYE, SO I STAGGERED TO SULU'S ROOM AND SHOOK YOUR HAND AND THEN FELL ASLEEP, LOL??

I'm sorry this is not a femmeslash prompt but I think genderswap is ttly awesome and cool and you should write that if you like! I mean I would squeeze my face with excitement over girl-Sulu/girl-Chekov go to Russia, of course, but anything you write will kick ass.

... BUT SERIOUSLY WHAT, MONO, THE HOSPITAL???

girl!McCoy/Uhura has been a HUGE weakness of mine recently, and I'd love to see your take on it. They would have so much fun lovingly making Jim's life hell (when they're not busy with, ahem, other pursuits).

OTOH gender!swap sometimes feels like cheating, since the female characters who have gone unnoticed still get no attention. In that case how about Winona/Number One (who was totes on the Kelvin somewhere)? I can see Winona crushing on her big time while George does his little dance with Robau.

And I've always wanted to write McCoy/Uhura. Oooh.

Wow, Winona/#1. I think of One and Pike as a little younger than Winona and George, but/and this idea is sparking in my head!

Gaila/anyone.

If genderswap counts, girl!Scotty/Gaila. Because smart, tech-savvy girls need to band together.

If not, Gaila/Chapel-- as the Narada limps home, an injured Gaila bonds with her nurse. If you know what I mean.
