I Need Some Joy
Sep. 6th, 2006 09:02 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
I have had a terrible past 24 hours, with suckiness predicted for the foreseeable future. Please tell me something, fannish or otherwise, that makes you happy.
I'll go first: the moment in my icon, whether in bookverse or movieverse. I have always loved that defiance against the dark and overwhelming odds.

Date: 2006-09-06 01:15 pm (UTC)A man walks into a hamburger shop and orders a meal. When it arrives, he takes a bite of his burger and notices there's a hair in the meat. He begins yelling frantically at the waitress: "Waitress, there's a hair in my hamburger! I demand to see what's going on!"
So, the waitress takes him back where the cook is and to his dismay, the customer sees the cook take the meat patty and flatten it under his arm pit. "That's disgusting!"
The waitress says, "You think that's disgusting, you should see him make donuts."

Date: 2006-09-06 02:47 pm (UTC)My grandparents are visiting from India at the moment, and it turns out my grandfather and I have a lot of stuff to say to each other. He laughs a lot.
My first proper writing foray in DCU fandom has met with lots of lovely encouragement and comments that'll have me grinning idiotically for the rest of day, now that I've seen them. (Yours being one of them, btw). And also my sister sat patiently through my explanation of who Tim Drake is this morning, and made one or two off-the-cuff comments about heroism and masks and stuff. [And then fled me, but still]
I hope things get better for you soon.

And since she's not the Robin-in-a-box, she can go anywhere she wants. Do anything she wants.
Try her best to help.
Alfred sees her. Cass sometimes seems to see her.
Tim probably would see her more if he wasn't busy seeing Superboy and his dad, but she manages to get in when he's asleep. And talk him out of that stupid resurrection plan. Geek boy trying to use his video games... but hey, maybe D&D really is applicable with some of the people Ro -- Tim knows.

Date: 2006-09-06 06:12 pm (UTC)Books! The awesomeness of piles and piles of books waiting to be read by you, even if they don't know it yet.
All the fic that's still to be written. All the porn that's still to be read.
Dick Grayson (this might not be unrelated to the last item).
Statistically, there is at least as much awesome people you still don't know as there is awesome people that you do. The idea kind of overloads me.
Poetry is awesome, and they are still making more of it. Comics... not always awesome, but sometimes. And they are always porneable.
While you are reading this, somebody somewhere is slashing two of your favorite characters. And one day you'll come across that fic, and it'll be HOT.
And the best thing - that is always true, no matter when you read this *g*.

Date: 2006-09-06 06:21 pm (UTC)Memories of Travelling . I was able to do a lot of travelling, and being able to think back to what it was like to hike through the Amazon (or more specifically, laze in a hammock listening to the rain in the Amazon), explore Macchu Picchu, nearly get killed by kamikaze camels in the outback, or swim with humpback whales, never fails to make me happy
The grin on Speedy's face as she commits acts of vigilante violence.
Robinpiles. Robinpiles make me happy really rather a lot.
Hair Metal. I know I have nothing approaching good taste in music, but I put on Iron Maiden, Guns N' Roses, Motley Crue, Hanoi Rocks, or something along those lines, and it's an effort not to bounce around the room playing my air guitar.

Food is a delicious way to keep my body functioning as well as possible, and it makes me very happy indeed.
Tomorrow, because it is my birthday, I will be going out to lunch with Te, my mom, and my brother -- whom I have not seen in entirely too many months, and whom I have missed.
Tara makes me happy. And sends you kittycuddles.

And... have a teeny drabble. Tim/Bart.
***
In three minutes, Bart begins gasping hard like he's drowning. Tim blinks and calculates, listening to the stuttered breaths to make sure the boy isn't hyperventillating.
Bart vibrates in a new way. He's not trying to escape the tight bonds at his wrists--he's trying to stay in them.
Tim nearly stops when tears begin to roll down Bart's cheeks. But when he slows his pumping fingers, Bart growls and then yells and it's such a strange un-Bart-like noise that he just nods and keeps stroking.
Slowly.
