I fear I'm going to lose track of many of the friends I've made here, people I otherwise would have never met. You'd think after all the moving I've do in my life I'd be used to it, but I never have and I don't think I ever will.
*nod* And necause of my other journal where I post my fanfic, and the fact that apparently they've begun suspending *all* of a person's journals, I'm preparing myself in case I lose these.
*sigh* I wish I could hope this would all blow over.
Not entirely sure what comment is needed. He sold LJ because he was bored and wanted to do other things. He stayed as long as he did becuse he needed to vest his stock options. Now, having done that, he's free to go, and he's going.
This isn't really news, or surprising, or anything to do with the latest overreaction to LJ drama.
Nope. LJ is just the same as it was. Because what makes LJ the place it is is the people here.
SixApart doesn't sell community. SixApart sells software and services. The community comes from us. And aside from a small group having collectively lost it's senses, declaring the falling of the sky, and baying for blood, not too much has actually changed. My friends list continues to read the way it has for years, and I expect shall continue to long after this latest teapot-tempest has been forgotten.

That's not exactly the most evenhanded description of events, you know. If this was meant as reassuring, it ended up coming off rather dismissive.
My friendlist has changed; other people's friendslists have changed more. I don't think what's currently happening on LJ is either a small thing or likely to blow over, and I think it bears keeping at least one eye on.

Actually, it was meant to be dismissive. And I apologize for it. I have no right to bring drama into your journal, and given that the above was the politest I could express my views on the current hysteria, I shall retire from this forum. I shouldn't have posted the comment at all.
I know I'm entitled to my opinion, sweetie. And so are you, and you can disagree with me. :) (For the record, kitanzi disagrees with at least a portion of my stance).
What I'm not entitled to do is invite argument into your house, and since I
a) have not yet found a way to express my strong opinions on this matter without being inflammatory, and b) have no real interest in having this debate in *my* journal
good manners suggest that I should probably just not engage the subject.

This is totally not meant as any kind of "last word"
