So, I recieved a Travel Diary from an elementary school class in the St. Louis suburns. I don't remember who I got it from, but it's still amusing; basicaly, one sends the class a postcard when one recieves the book, then writes a photoessay about where one lives and pastes it into the travel journal. I should have my photoessay done in about a week, at which point I'll be ready to send the book on to another person, if anyone would like to volunteer.

Thinking about how to describe Boston to an elementary school class led me to looking up various things about the city I live in, and which I should see more of. I found out that one of the best collections of bonsai in the United States is here, the Larz Anderson Collection at the Arnold Arboretum. *makes a note to make plans*

Give it another two months (probably less, given the weather) and lilacs should be in bloom. They've got one of the best lilac collections in the country, too.

That sounds like a picnic-worthy plan. And I've recently been thinking I need to have more picnics in my life. :)

I'd be happy to take it next, if it doesn't already have a New Yorker.

It doesn't have a New Yorker yet, and it totally needs one. *grin*

Email me your current mailing address? And, thanks.

Let me know when you decide to go visit this bonsai garden, I would love to join you! And if you haven't been there before, you should really pay a visit to BonsaiWest in Littleton, MA. They have an extensive and really incredible collection of bonsai to look at as well as selling bonsai and teaching classes.

Maybe I'll make an expedition of it.

I don't want to buy any bonsai, because I have a very brown thumb, as it were. But seeing some would be nice.

My daughter's second grade class is doing the same thing with the book _Flat Stanley_. Apparently, Stanley gets to go to all these neat places because he's flat enough to mail in an envelope.

My daughter wanted Stanley to go to Virginia to visit filkergem and kyttn--apparently VA is far enough away to be exotic to my daughter. I tried to arrange to have Stanley go to Australia, but my local contact there ended up coming to Boston on a study leave and is here for the rest of the school year. Oh well, no doubt Stanley will still have many amazing journeys.

Stanley arrived last night, and will be visiting Philadelphia after visiting Va. We haven't decided who Stanly might visit next... possibly Canada or maybe Germany or England. There is even a slight chance of Singapore if we can get hold of a certain filker and if he has time.

Oh cool--I was going to check with you, but everything has been so....you know.

Philadelphia will have lots of neat things for Stanley to see. I look forward to hear more about Stanley's journeys!

Cool! I'd be happy to take it if it doesn't go to rosefox. I'd be pretty surprised if it already has Kingston, Ontario in it :)

Nope, no Canada yet. :D

I think it's supposed to stay in the US; I got that impression, anyway. But, thank you, a lot. *hugs you warmly*
