The amendment they're talking about, unfortunately, is the one that was passed at the Constitutional Convention two years ago and was up for its second vote this year. It was already on shaky ground and, after DiMasi became speaker, was practically guaranteed for defeat. There's not a lot of news here.
The anti-gay amendment that's been tossed around in the press the last few days is still in motion: they have to collect 65,000 signatures from the public first and then get only a quarter of the legislature to approve it in order for it to go to a vote. So that's still very much a possibility.
