Does Anyone Know A Kid

Who would love a kid's cookware set?
Twenty years ago (15 for that matter), I was such a kid, so I very much want to make sure some kid who would love such a set now gets it.
SurLaTable (http://surlatable.com/) has, amidst their overpriced overdecorated kitchen cruft, a few worthwhile implements and sets. Three such are the Sous Chef Bake Set ($29.95), the Kid's Pizza Making Kit ($21.95) and the Children's Utensil and Cookware Set ($23.95) (all prices in US dollars).
I'm tempted to buy one for the annual Winter Holiday Toy Drive, as a useful, educational, welcome change from the plastic high-heeled dolls and action figures that usually populate toy drives. (I'm tempted to buy all three, but, as I must remind myself, I'm not made of money.)
At any rate, I thought I'd mention it here.
After all, we have to catch 'em young. ;)

Indeed we do! GREAT idea about the toy drive---I may follow your lead on this one. Thanks!

Date: 2003-10-19 07:44 am (UTC)Leila got them as hand-me-downs later, but she never played with them. She played with the hammer, screwdrivers, and saws (also all real, if small) that we had.
I think ALL kids should have toy-that-are-actually-real coolware, and toy-that-are-actually-real tools. Maybe soldering irons and sewing kits, too.

Date: 2003-10-19 08:15 am (UTC)One could replicate the kit with judicious shopping, but, hey, the kit has it all in one place for a decent price (King Arthur, normally my kitchen supplier of choice, is selling a similar kit for double the price, for no appreciable reason).
