Some assorted fan fictional items:
I wrote "Testing a Theory" (Natasha/Steve, light NC-17, Captain America Movies) for the Femme Remix I double I'll post it here, so I thought I'd add a link.
I received two podfics of my works, In a Dangerous Time (Peggy/Steve, PG-13) and Seven Observations of a Nebula (Gen, Star Trek AOS). This is as much a note to myself to listen to them as anything else.
Now, story thoughts:
this beautiful, borderline NSFW, tentacular image is totally a dream Bucky Barnes had. But when/in which universe/why/what happens?
I really want to write more Coleman Harris / pre-serum Steve ROgers fic. But I have no ideas.
More importantly, I have a Sam/Steve Perils of Polyamory story to write which is stalled because it doesn't have an arc in the plot, just a flat line. Right know this is the plot: Sam gets hurt. Steve goes haring off after Bucky's trail. Sam beats up assassins in-hospitl, goes home, finds Steve at home waiting for him. Steve apologizes, Sam accepts, Bucky appears at end. It needs more conflict, it needs Steve atoning, it needs a narrative measure of how big a fault this was.
My little roommates are signing distractingly. Let me post this.

Date: 2015-08-10 01:35 am (UTC)Well, it's shrinkyclinks, so probably one where Steve gets de-serumed during his search for WS. WS has him now, but can't figure out what to do with him, and then gets disturbing dreams that he can't quite understand. (Are the tentacles his? Or HYDRA's?)
Coleman Harris/pre-serum Steve: Coleman takes Steve dancing? Somewhere cool like Harlem?
Perils of Polyamory:
- Why is Steve waiting at home and didn't run straight for the hospital?
- What made Steve turn around and come back to Sam? (Something external? Something internal?)
- Does Sam think about leaving Steve? Does Sam reach out to / talk to other people?

Date: 2015-08-11 12:58 am (UTC)I know nothing about Gangster Squad, but if you can ret-con him as an NYPD cop in Brooklyn, then you could have all sorts of fun. Like, he rescues skinny!Steve from getting beat up, or mistakes him for a working boy, or Steve knows him from the neighborhood and comes to him for help with... something. Plot. I don't know anything about 1940s police in New York!
PERILS OF POLYAMORY!!!!
Whose POV is this? Sam? So the arc is that Sam's faith is shaken a bit when he really could have died because of Steve's negligence, so if this is going to work he needs Steve to be honest with him about how this is going to work/Steve needs to remember Sam's human? So then the atonement needs to be about Steve finding a way to make Sam believe he won't do something like this again.
If Steve POV, then the conflict is about realizing that to get what you want you need to keep what you already have, and either being made to understand (via Sam's judiciously applied smack upside the head) that he needs to change his behavior (oh god, Sam could have died because of what I did) or a defining moment of realization about loving people meaning something about listening to what they say they need rather than always thinking you know best?
More conflict opportunities:
1) there are worse consequences to Steve haring off. Sam is abducted and has to break himself out (meanwhile, Steve is frantically trying to figure out what happened and if Sam is even still alive).
2) They can't resolve the issue right away. Maybe Steve chased Bucky somewhere he can't immediately get back from (Fin... land...?), and that leaves time for a) soul-searching on Sam's part or b) for Steve to buy a clue.
