Your Friends Are Not Watching the Same Show You Are (And That's Okay) by Merlin Missy. Which has now become a meme!

I wish I could've read this before I got into LOTR fandom. Whern I watched the movies I was watching the Grand and Dangerous Tour of Fabulous [if Orc-Infested] Middle Earth, and loving the place but wishing it had a few more women and a lot more sex of all kinds; meanwhile, many people were either happy with the lack of women and watching The Great True Singular Romance of [insert names here], or rather missing women but delighted to be watching The Grand and Dangerous Tour of Pure and Sexless Middle-Earth. It might have been good for me to realize all these rather earlier than I did.

At any rate. I tend to watch my favorite shows for their ensembles; I fall in love with shows where I love many/most of the characters, and tend to come to love most of the characters of shows I fall for. But here are a few shows I've watched in slightly more singular fashion:

In which Quincy is reincarnated as a long-legged young woman and acquires a passel of quirky coworkers.

Three junior officers, two redeeming themselves and the youngest growing into himself, fall in love and have adventures in space. This is the show that taught me that it's a rare show that can make a desired pairing canon without wrecking it, mostly by not being that rare show. *pouts* Also, my Voyager didn't have a Buxom Borg on its crew. (I really wanted to like Seven of Nine...)

Wacky adventures in cooking, organized by topic and The real-world version with motorcycles and no makeup chair. *adores Alton Brown*

Teenage BFFs fight crime! I could write pages about how much I liked that show, but people who know me can probably guess. And yes, I really enjoyed Richie as the sidekick Gear. The wider world of Dakota was nicely realized, as were Virgil's family, but I really watched it for the Virgil-and-Richie show.

My second favorite Star Wars movie. Cut up into 5- and 15-minute bits for various reasons.

Brock Samson, Supernanny. And all the references. And Dr. Girlfriend. I don't know why I adore this show so much, but I really do.

Heroines, a Hiro, and a floppy-haired emo boy. Honorable mention goes to D. L. and Niki, whose characterization and marriage I adore, not least because they start off looking like they'll be stereotypes and end up not being so in many ways.

The snarktastic love affair of Mike Rowe, Dave Barsky, and anything edible, plus several intrepid cameramen, quite a few amazing people and great quantities of varied filth.

The Eppes Boys Show AND The True Adventures of Two FBI Agents in Love AND Our Lady of Keen Eyes and Good Aim AND The Vast Cosmos and You With Professor Fleinhardt AND I don't even know how to sum up Amita but I identify with and adore her something fierce. And they all Fight Crime!

The Scrappy Wee Babs Kicks Evildoers' Butts Show (with some help from a bazillionaire, his wiry little ward, and a snarky, insightful butler).
