Deadlines

Well, drat it all. I wanted to have two stories done for the Summer solstice, one a five (or six) things story and one a nice long smutbomb.

The five-or-six things story is a collection of six rough and semipolished drafts; one story especially has severe character voice problems. I can fix them, but it'll take research and time.

The smutbomb's first draft is less than a quarter done. Four randy characters and I'm having trouble writing it. What's wrong with me?

Drat. Maybe I'll put both of these up for my halfbirthday.

Do you set yourselves deadlines, and if so how do you approach them?

I promised my hubby to finish Before I go to sleep before the end of July, and now I'm writing for my life. I fear I'm not very organized. *weak grin*

I set myself up for deadlines that I rarely follow through on (*grump*). My goal is to finish a coherent rough draft of my original fic this summer. I'm getting a little panicky about that right abouts now... For fan fic, I rarely set up deadlines unless it's for a challenge, in which case I am guaranteed to wait until the last possible moment to haul ass on it. :-D

Deadlines I impose on myself are fatal to any kind of creative effort. Deadlines which fall naturally because of the needs/desires of others sometimes work though. Depends on how much I care about the "others"...

Procrastinate until the last moment? :D Miss the deadline and go "oh well, I'll finish it later"? :D
