I feel squashed flat and mired utterly in mundanity. Please tell me something magical? A quotation, a link to a picture, a poem, a story, anything.

But the world is full of zanies and fools
who don't believe in sensible rules
and won't believe what sensible people say...
and because these daft and dewey-eyed dopes
keep building up impossible hopes
impossible things are happening every day

I wrote this (http://www.livejournal.com/community/20_rings/1364.html?style=mine) (and I'm linking because I thought you'd be interested in the community, not just because I'm shameless, though I am quite shameless), and I have Elanor-drabble in my journal, as well.

Also, I love this song. (http://s39.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2RGZL6F4H50II2EXVHRA94Z1G3) I don't know if you can get to it right away, but you should snag it when you can.

Oh, the four of them. Mmmm.

Tori! O, I haven't listened to her in too long. She is as talented as she's beautiful.

Thank you, sweetie!

Mmmm, yes. And you did Elanor as well, and I had to do her, as well, and I certainly don't mean that as perverted as it might sound. You should read [livejournal.com profile] lindelea1's drabble that she posted for the day -- it's what I wanted to do, but was distracted by Elanor instead.

And Tori is gorgeous, body and sound. I love her music.

And you're welcome, love!

Was googling this morning, looking for an image of Tip from the Oz books - and found this young ff writer's site with lovely collected John R Neill illustrations. I adored Oz - these brought back such delicious memories.

And... there was, of course, that early gender bender... see icon.

Thank you!

pe - was just reading that she didn't stay till her 4th or 5th visit. I *live* in KS - pleasant enough, but compared to Oz???? Well, I know where I'd choose!

You know, you're the first person I've met who remembers Tip. I was sooo disappointed when Tip turned into Ozma - I *loved* Tip! Surely there's room for ff about Ozma remembering her life as a boy? Loved Ozma, too, though. I ask you, does she not look just like Frodo in the pic?

Date: 2005-03-26 12:05 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] rubynye.livejournal.com
I wasn't so much disappointed when Tip became Ozma as that he became such a Thoroughly Girly Girl With No Memory of Being a Boy. I *completely* agree with you.

That's quite the smirk, though. I like it. She not only looks like Frodo but like *Naughty* Frodo. :D

It's soooo the expression in that publicity still - The Legendary Frodo and Sam!

Frodo looks a LOT like Ozma... mmmmmm!

Making the mundane magical

Ode to Salt

This salt
in the salt cellar
I once saw in the salt mines.
I know
you won't
believe me
but
it sings
salt sings, the skin
of the salt mines
sings
with a mouth smothered
by the earth.
I shivered in those
solitudes
when I heard
the voice
of
the salt
in the desert.
Near Antofagasta
the nitrous
pampa
resounds:
a
broken
voice,
a mournful
song.

In its caves
the salt moans, mountain
of buried light,
translucent cathedral,
crystal of the sea, oblivion
of the waves.
And then on every table
in the world,
salt,
we see your piquant
powder
sprinkling
vital light
upon
our food.
Preserver
of the ancient
holds of ships,
discoverer
on
the high seas,
earliest
sailor
of the unknown, shifting
byways of the foam.
Dust of the sea, in you
the tongue receives a kiss
from ocean night:
taste imparts to every seasoned
dish your ocean essence;
the smallest,
miniature
wave from the saltcellar
reveals to us
more than domestic whiteness;
in it, we taste finitude.

Don't read it at work, though, or people will wonder why you're screaming with laughter. Trust me on this one. Been there, done that. Anyone want a T-shirt?

Try [livejournal.com profile] mo_cailleach, if you haven't already. It's a wonderful Monaboyd AU with Dom as a prince and Billy as a wizard, and there's a wonderful horse in it, as well! Lovely universe with a nice bit of magic; very nicely written RP by Kia and Molly. The tigs are slow, but so very worth the wait, imho.
