Why there's a point to school

In my ongoing quest to actually become some sort of writer via the fanfic method, it never ceases to amuse me when I use the analytical tools I was taught in high school English classes to figure out how a bit of porn about, say, two dysfunctional gorgeous superheroes or two scarred, smiling hobbits, creates the multilayered effect it does with what is a linear string of words.
