First, a recommendation: [livejournal.com profile] ellenmillion is an excellent professional artist who sells prints, coloring books, etc.

Also, three dedications for the next two pictures: [livejournal.com profile] kshandra, [livejournal.com profile] peteralway, and [livejournal.com profile] acelightning inspired me to draw :

2D drawings of the 3D ornaments I would like. I'd have to make wee sculptures and get someone to embed them in acrylic or lucite for me, so not a project for right now. Maybe some other year.

Also, just because:

It's funny. I drew a bra on her and immediately discarded that version. In general I disapprove of bras on mermaids -- water would provide support, and why would they have our particular cultural ideas about what to cover or not? -- but I'll usually add them for propriety. But not this mermaid. She sits in her waterfall, serene and beautiful with an edge of wildness and absolutely no bra.

Those ornaments are very pretty. And your mermaid is sweet.

Ah, but her hair is providing propriety...

I actually have made spaceship ornaments for my tree.

Ouch! That loss sounds very sad, with, I'm sure, many others. But I admit that making ornaments is a lot of fun, and starting with a wee tree sounds like a great way to start. (I'm reminded of Groot in Guardians of the galaxy)

"Guardians of the Galaxy" is a comic-book-based movie, with a character, Groot, who is a sort of anthropomorphized tree. If you are a Tolkien fan, I'd describe him as a bit ent-like.

Anyway, giving away spoilers, he sacrifices himself for our heroes, but one character saves and plants a twig of him, which seems to be slowly growing into a new Groot.

Lovely bits and bobs here <3

I'm glad you went with bra-less for the mermaid! *kicks propriety to the curb*

The ornament idea is great, hopefully it'll materialise in 3D some day! And love the mer..waterfallmaid, especially her eyes!

Your mermaid is perfect just the way she is!

I've never really thought about whether angels would wear bras, but presumably large and slow flapping wings would make for sharply undulating flight, and without a bra, OW.

Your Christmas postcard arrived, btw! Thank you so much! I'm afraid once again I've been far too disorganised to send any, but a very happy Christmas to you, and a peaceful holiday season to the entire household

I like all three of these. The first one is so, er, angelic? [g] The second one is just the epitome of the season. I especially like the way her hair pretty much matches her pants. As for the last, well, she looks like she has *something* on her mind. [eg]

I like them! And they look like they'd work nicely as 3D ornaments.

There are craft places that sell clear ornaments you can put a photo (or, presumably) drawing into, if that's something that might interest you.

Lovely!

I agree with no bras on mermaids; every culture gets to develop its own norms. Now that you bring it up, though, I wonder whether mermaids would tend to be smaller-chested (less to get in the way of swimming) or larger-chested (because buoyancy makes them less of a disadvantage). I suppose it depends in part on mermaid reproduction -- how much suckling is needed?

Man, the things I don't expect to find myself thinking about when looking at art... :-)

My personal opinion is breasts are so lovely that everyone should have some. :-) Why would you want to cover a thing of such beauty?
