Teh good, the bad, and the mischevious.

Ah, it's June, I love June, the air is warm and the flowers are merry. There's a feral rose which persists in a nearby hedge, despite being roughly trimmed and never tended, and it's blooming again this year, little white ruffles of stubbornness and delight. I'm really enjoying drawing on the computer, and about to bring another batch of magnets to work.

.... assuming the oven cooperates with baking the shrink plastic for me. Also, our Cuisinart just crapped out, right at the start of Farmer's Market season, when I was about to make batches of fruit bonbons. We have a blender, Wolf's delight, but it's totally not the same. SO I need to save up for another Cuisinart, and soon.

To end with, a mischevious thought. Using the layering techniques [livejournal.com profile] boosette and [livejournal.com profile] lb_lee explained to me, I've been incorportating starfields, nebulae, etc into artworks. (I'll post some soon.) I wonder what would happen if I sent my parents a drawing of "a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars" (Revelations 12:1) I first considered the actual Whore of Babylon (rev. 17 & 18) but that would probably be too snide.

Feel free to share the Whore of Babylon picture with those of us who would appreciate it...

I hope the layering tricks work for you! Feel free to ask if you have any questions or if I was unclear anywhere.

EDIT: also, this is something you probably already know, but I heard that putting shrinky plastic in your normal oven will put off nasty fumes that can saturate food later. That's something I just heard, so I very well might be wrong, but I figured I'd mention it just in case. <.

I just found this in a nook of my inbox! The stuff that can give off fumes is polymer clay; shriink plastic just changes shape/size, rather than undergoing any chemical reaactions. To the best of my knowledge it doesn't give off any fumes -- the literature says it doesn't, and I haven't noticed anything in 30 years. Thank you for making sure I stay safe, though. :)

Aw, heh, I should've known you knew better than me. I'm sorry for being patronizing.
