People complain about Tumblr, and rightly so much of the time, but I will always love how many lovely pictures of Black people I see there. Does my heart good. Being an incurable optimist I hope that somehow all these lovely positive images of us can shape opinions among at least some of tomorrow's leaders.

I was going to post examples but my computer is being poky. So hey, provide some in comments if you feel like it! AHAHAHA I just remembered what happened last time, so no. But if you're curious about an example of my inspiration, Google the recent State Dinner with the Misses Obama looking absolutely beautiful and radiant. (But be careful. I'm sure some asshole is saying something nasty about those lovely young women.)

The pic of the girls and Ryan Reynolds makes me grin so wide every time it comes up!

I was just about to mention that exact picture. It makes me smile so hugely.

I'll openly admit that I often reblog lovely images of Black people on Tumblr specifically because I hope you'll see them.

Also because they're lovely.

I think that while the increased Whiteworld visibility of Black people and other people of colour draws abuse, it also seeps into people's minds, particularly young minds, and helps to make them cleaner and more accepting places.

I hang around a lot with kids, for obvious reasons, and while there's still a lot of bigotry of all sorts, there's a lot less of it than there used to be.
