Having still not gotten my hands on a beet, I experimented with hibicus to color my next batch of candied ginger.
I have made canded ginger so dark purple it's nearly black. It's sweet and hot with a wicked bite, and should lok great when coated in sparkling sugar.
Anyone want some?

Date: 2015-10-21 11:52 am (UTC)I just made ours with about half brown sugar and I am loving the taste enhancement over the regular candied ginger I buy. Ended up storing the sticky in layers of the Costco organic sugar and We'll be using that sugar for gingersnaps, if I get around to making them before we eat all the ginger bits.

I am hoping to try out making rose hip jelly this weekend and had already planned on saving you a small sample jar if it's any good!
