Planetary Inspirations
Mar. 29th, 2011 07:58 amTwo planetary images that I think people might find inspiring:
The planet candidates Kepler has found, with their parent stars. And these are just the ones whose orbital planes are aligned with us such that we can see their transits across their parent stars! Look at all those varied stars, in size and age and color! Imagine that galaxy full of varied planets out there around us!
*breathes* *puts down the exclamation marks*
Venus, Moon and Earthshine. I love looking around our solar system and thinking about how we stand on one ball hanging in space amidst the others dangling beside us, or rather, swinging companionably with us through space around out parent star. I wonder if somewhere out there someone is photographing Jupiter's transit across our Sun. (Or maybe even ours, if their telescopes are that good.)
And people say science strips the wonder out of the world. *scoffs*
