Every so often, people sometimes post Works in Progress that they may never finish. So I thought I'd post this one.

Notes: This is a sequel to my 2003 NaNoWriMo novel, Dawn City. Or, would have been. I wanted to show how Dessi, Dinas, and the rest were flourishing in their little Outpost in the Lush Wilderness on an island that I'd make obvious was Crete (it was colonized right around then). But the story never gelled; a portrait does not a story make, and all I had was the setting. Maybe some other time.

Short Political Note

So, I'd said elsewhen that Senator Obama hadn't talked much about race recently. Well, due to what seems to be a political scandal involving Pastor Jeremiah Wright (whom I haven't researched for myself yet, so I don't know the content of the scandal), Senator Obama made a speech about race and politics. So I wanted to put a link in my journal to that and to this response in Salon for when I have time to consider them in more detail. "Today Obama laid out a racial worldview that tries to challenge the zero-sum thinking that's pitted races against each other for too long." says Joan Walsh, so I definetely want to hear more.
