Answers to the Lyrics Meme

So, I was going to write a witty introduction about how I chose these songs for this mix, their similarities in outlook and beat and my wondering about what musical similarities they might share that I could find if I knew as much music theory as I wish I did.

But the disjointedness of that sentence should indicate what my morning's being like. So here are the answers, and hopefully there will shortly be replies. :)
