Many of these are deeply distressing, hence the cut. (Some are also deeply hilarious, at least to my dark sense of humor. If you know me you cna probably guess which made me laugh so I wouldn't cry and which just made me cry with rage.)
In no particular order:
Street harassment stabbing a reminder that catcalling is not a joke
A multifaceted link between lead poisoning and crime
"Larry Ward, Gun Appreciation Day Founder, Says Armed African Americans Could've Prevented Slavery"
"Glenn Beck Building Ayn Rand-Inspired Utopia"
"Aaron Swartz, Internet Pioneer, Found Dead Amid Prosecutor 'Bullying' In Unconventional Case I would take the quotation marks from around the word bullying there, and I will write a letter, for whatever it's worth.
"Extreme jet stream causing record warmth in the east, record cold in the West"
" Hundreds of women have been arrested, convicted, jailed, detained in mental institutions or forced to endure medical procedures as a result of the “criminalisation of pregnancy” over the last four decades, a new report has found."
RNC Chairman says "Republicans in blue states ‘ought to be’ rigging Electoral College"
" NOT From The Onion: "GOP looks for ways to stop the rape comments"" It would be nice if they managed it, but we should still keep the Republican Party Rape Advisory Chart on hand to remember what they still think (and how they will draw up policy).
Hydrocodone may be rescheduled in a way that makes it more difficult for patients to access it. Here's what we can do to fight that.
Birthers want to impeach Supreme Court Justice Roberts
"Feminist has a T" and it needs to not be for transphobia. This controversy has, among other bad effects, overshadowed and drowned out how "thousands of transgender people, sick and tired of suffering systemic and chronic abuse at the hands of an institutionally transphobic medical profession, decided we were going to tell the world about it".
Later I intend to do a linkspam of cheer.
