I just posted this one on FB. Courtesy of The Rachel Maddow Show blog this morning, scientists are about to breach the miles-thick glacial cover over Lake Vostok. That's the largest subglacial lake in Antarctica, with water that's been isolated and dark, but liquid and highly oxygenated for 20 million years. I can only just barely IMAGINE the ecosystem...

The 3rd from bottom link draws heavily on "Christianity, Social Tolerance, and Homosexuality: Gay People in Western Europe from the Beginning of the Christian Era to the Fourteenth Century" by John Boswell. Yeah, there's a book there. It would have been nice if they'd included that in the article.

Thought provoking, though. I'm sure gonna surprise a Christian or two.
