Lay in supplies for a few days of no power and you should be good. Even if writing in longhand is a vanishing skill... You may want to get some hurricane books to read to the kinder, though. People don't expect storms to LAST as long as hurricanes do unless they've been warned.
I hope it holds off till Monday. An awful lot of my kids have won Red Sox tickets for Sunday's game and I hate to see them disappointed.
Probably not, on the hope. I'm in New York, and they're telling us that we shoudl see Irene starting Saturday night. Even moving slowly, that puts her up in Massachusetts sometime Sunday.
I agree about the laying in of supplies, provided you don't live in a flood-prone area. We're not (in a neighborhood called Jackson Heights, you don't expect, and we don't get, floods :-) but deliveries may well be caught in or on the wrong side of low-lying roads.
I'm a bit worried myself. I heard it's supposed to come in late Sat. night and really get going on Sunday. And I'm supposed to do something in Davis at 9:30 a.m., which means if a tree gets knocked down on the red line tracks or something, I'm SOL.
Honey, if there's a hurricane, one would hope that the MBTA would shut things down proactively before a tree falls on a Red Line *train*. Be safe. please?
