So, [livejournal.com profile] drglam, who is continually and astoundingly wonderful to me, invited me and the amazing [livejournal.com profile] lyonesse to the Harvard Faculty Club for oysters. It grew into a dinner party, with Pywacket, Dr. R, & Dr. Glam's accomplished and handsome roommate J & his equallly accomplished and handsome, and gorgeously dressed, sister K.

I think the siblings kind of blew my mind. They're very much alike -- sharp, brilliant, funny, erudite -- and they looked a lot alike -- slender, angular cheekbones and pointy noses, curly brown hair, stylish glasses, long-boned -- and I ended up sitting between them as they teased each other and chatted about all manner of subjects. I mostly listened in various kinds of astonishment, turning back and forth like I was at a tennis match. Whoa.

At length on K's suggestion we went to Small Plates (ah, Harvard Square -- one of the few nostalgias I allow myself is walking through there and remembering doing so a dozen years ago) and had a dinner that was tasty, if not as splendid as the previous one K had there. [livejournal.com profile] drglam treated me, and at this point I may have lost count of the nifty experiences I've had because of her generosity and perspicacity.

It was a really lovely evening. :)

And now, a poll.

Dr. Glam also gave me an action figure of Mickey Smith of Doctor Who fame and a Really Large Gun. The latter is, alas, probably not sutiable for an educational institution such as my workplace. I do want to show him off, though, not least since Dr. Martha Jones (currently standing on my desk, inside an overturned fishbowl and holding a small glass globe) gets all manner of comments, and it would fit to make a diorama of both the action figures she's given me. (Have I mentioned how delighted and grateful I am? *beams at [livejournal.com profile] drglam*)

Hence, the poll!

put him on your desk at work, but get a little foil origami dog so you can have him with "the tin dog"

That way, there's one less fishbowl for uneducated pet owners to use, too. Bonus!

Hooray! Fishbowls and grapefruit spoons are such useful items that are so very bad for their named applications.

Okay, you have to explain why Mickey/Martha would work, because I'm not seeing it. :)
