[Tale of morning woe redacted.]

Five good things right now, dammit, with thanks to [livejournal.com profile] cereta for the idea:

1) I have made several new friends recently, one over the Minoans and a couple over a recent large online debate I've been peripherally involved in.

2) When I finally got to work this morning the coworker covering my desk was sympathetic instead of mad at me.

3) President Obama is going to sign the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. With thanks to [livejournal.com profile] karadin for the news!

4) Tigerlily's mom has been with us this week, and it's been really nice having her here.

5) I had a snow day yesterday. I didn't get much done, but hey, dolce far niente.

Five good things

1. Yesterday's United Campus Workers rally went well, and the people who saw me on TV said I did a good job.

2. More generally, the media has been very kind to UCW; they don't misquote us or make us out to look like idiots.

3. My skinned knee is healing.

4. I got my copy of Red Roses and Dead Things and am enjoying the heck out of it. "Oh Michelle" is adorable (Lyrics)!

5. I feel happy today.

5) I had a snow day yesterday. I didn't get much done, but hey, dolce far niente.

*envies* It's far niente for me too, but not so dolce in this heat.

1. Beatrice and Jerry are coping with the heat. I rubbed them both with icecubes today, and they liked that. Jerry normally hates anyone to touch his belly, but he was blissful about it today with the ice.

2. I finished The Dispossessed, and it was good.

3. I smell faintly of lavender and bergamot spray.

4. It's 2:14am and quiet and peaceful, and I'm coming to realise that while, yeah, I'm being forced into this by the heat, it's actually probably my normal body rhythm.

5. I can has medications.

Mom told me that you had huge amounts of trouble getting a cab to the train station. I wish I could have driven you!

Joshua's bus didn't arrive till after 9AM, and then we got two, and the dispatcher had to sort it out.

Dear new friend,

Here is something that made me extremely happy this morning:

Dear new friend,

Here is something that made me extremely happy this morning:

<What Elijah means," Billy said, and now his green eyes were depthless as the sea, "is that death is the pattern and life is the dance; when we dance the bull before the people and the gods, we dance that truth, but every person lives it.">

Recognize it? **G** I'm really loving reading your Minoan fic and am SOOO glad we found each other in this odd, far-flung world that exists in cyberspace!

I'm sorry you seem to be having a cold, hard day. If it makes you feel any less bad, it's been very cold here for us as well, although of course, "cold" is a relative term when comparing Boston and Honolulu... ;-) But I have heating pads on my bad leg, a blanket over my shoulders and two long-sleeved shirts on. ('course, i could always close the window, but then I wouldn't be able to smell the flowers...)

I do hope your day gets much, much better!!
