james_nicoll: The final editorial of Sri Lankan journalist Lasantha Wickrematunge, published three days after his assassination. If I can face my fate with one percent of the courage and grace he wrote with here, and surely lived with, I would do well indeed.
Rev. Al Sharpton says something with which I agree: he calls out the proponents of Proposition 8. "There is something immoral and sick about using all of that power to not end brutality and poverty, but to break into people's bedrooms and claim that God sent you. "

"Is the new administration going to repeal DADT?"
"You don't hear a politician give a one-word answer very often... but the answer here is 'yes'."
A bonus bit of good news, fromysabetwordsmith: William Kamikwamba, a boy of fourteen, built a windmill to power his family home (from plans in a library book, no less).
