After having seen several instances of the Omnivore's 100, I find myself feeling I should do more to help my friends up their scores if they'd like. So I may put candied flowers on this year's fruitcakes, and I hereby offer to come over and cook oxtail or curried goat for anyone in the Greater Boston Metro Area with whom I'd have dinner anyway. :)

Speaking of things I want to cook at my friends' houses... I want to make another batch of Bacon Wrapped Bacon, take it to work and store it in the freezer, and supplement lunchtime salads with two or three mouthfuls of porky goodness apiece. Alas, I would make WD very unhappy if I cooked this at his house, for reasons which are his to relate if he chooses. I probably wouldn't get around to this project until September, but would anyone like to have me come over and cook a double batch of this, one batch for you and one batch for me? It'll take a few hours, but at the end we'd each have about two dozen chunks of bacony happiness.

BTW, since we STILL have not gotten around to using the large ammount of fruit we marinated in alcohol 2 years ago, would you like to come take it away to use for this year's fruitcake project? I seriously don't see us having time to do anything with the stuff and its been getting used occasionally but not fast enough. All I would ask would be that we get to have the liquor that its sitting in because the stuff is really pretty interesting after marinating all that fruit for 2 years.

I'd love to, but I can't drive. :D

Why don't you drain off the liquor, squash the fruit into an alcoholic block in one of the buckets, then come over with it and the diapers and your guys and we'll have dinner again? (That makes more sense than bringing it here and then hauling the liquor back. At least at the moment, though my brain is all fuzzy with cold meds so maybe I shouldn't make plans at the moment.)

Hmmm, if I smash up the fruit will it still be useful? How small should the pieces be? I could just drain off the alcohol and then arrange to get it to you. Not sure when because this week + weekend are sort of toast already in terms of having free time.

Need to talk to your roomie about the diapers because I need to make sure we're both on the same page about cost etc.

The fruit will still be useful even if smushed. What's in the assortment?

Anyway, this is in the future, after you and TL have discussed the diapers and I'm not sick anymore and stuff. :)

Oh, honey, if you can get to our kitchen, you'd be so welcome to use it for bacony happiness.

*facepalm*

I mean, one day, when I manage my grand UK tour, certainly! But not this summer, alas.

Seriously? We'd *love* for you to make the bacon-wrapped bacon at our house! That stuff is orgasmic. In fact, if we participate in the proceedings, we can learn something. So if you're willing . . .

Oh, cool! Although, I don't want to accidentally rearrange your kitchen... but I'm sure you've handled that before. Drop me a line!

B and I tried to take that course together back when I also worked at BU, and things were just too crazy at the workplace to give us energy to do so. Maybe now that the workplace is sane-ish...

That was a fun class, but as TL pointed out, I couldn't really give it the attention it deserved.

You could probably do it here. Roomie is a vegetarian but she doesn't care what I cook. I'd recommend we do it at a time when [livejournal.com profile] ringoffire75 is here because if there is anyone in the world who NEEDS bacon wrapped bacon, he's it :D

That works! And hey, once made they seem to keep well, so we could make them and freeze them and you could feed them to him later on.
