Year End Prep

April is the perfect time to contemplate my Winter Holiday projects!

So, I've been trying to write up the Grand Fruitcake Project for Cat Fud, and I find myself... not really sure what to write. I plan. I pick recipes. I shop. I decorate. I mail. I'm not sure how to make that a compelling narrative.

This is related to my thoughts this year on how I intend to accomplish this; I think I may have to stagger it across six or seven weekends, four for baking and two or three for decorating/packaging. Also... people keep offering to send money, etc. Maybe I should have this channeled into a charity; goodness knows there are many more charities I support than I have cash to donate to.

This entry should have some kind of interaction-encouraging summary, but failing that I'll just segue into sex.


Thanks to hyel I have the perfect cards for at least the next few years. I'm going to send out a few thousand Santa Lucias and Happy Everythings, or at least I hope to. That just leaves one card to nail down.

Back when I drew my own cards I always drew one that was at least naughty. Notable examples include: a couple, one member holding mistletoe over the other, naked but for a ribbon wrapped around them inscribed with "celebrate the Winter Holidays by staying warm"; an X-rated threesome with the same caption; a 'christmas wreath' daisy chain; and the memorable Mr. Menorah.

I think if I'm going to do this I'll lean towards the naughty (couple with ribbon, or maybe a naked girl dancing with a string of fairy-lights) rather than the pornographic (or in the case of the last example, downright hentai). I'm not sure if I will, though, nor whom I'll ask to draw it.

I still pull those cards out from time to time! Most cards don't survive their seasons, but yours do.

As for the article, maybe it's partly about the fruitcakes and partly about the joy you bring to everyone by doing it? Sort of a "chicken soup for the soul" treatment, but a different food? :-)

I agree with your fruitcake comment. B, think of it as a Good Eats episode; there's the making of the fruitcake, and then there's the framework for making the fruitcake. It may not be as funny as rescuing a group of Girl Scout-lookalikes or changing the image of okra, but it'll be real, and it'll be you.
