I really should have just made song lyrics my theme for this National Poetry Month.

So the Discovery Channel has an adorable new ad, featuring a song with a tune so catchy I'm pretty sure I could sing it on just two hearings. I found the lyrics at http://www.joeytomatoes.com/ (where I found pretty much all the information about the song except who wrote it). I am such an inveterate sucker for any and all things uplifting, but this song really makes me feel better on a day when I need it.

I Love The World or The World Is Just Awesome (I'm not sure which is the title). By someone working for The Discovery Channel.

I love the mountains,
I love the clear blue skies,
I love big bridges,
I love when great whites fly
I love the whole world
And all its sights and sounds

Boom dee odda, boom dee odda, Boom dee odda, boom dee odda

I love the oceans
I love real dirty things
I love to go fast
I love Egyptian kings
I love the whole world
And all its craziness

Boom dee odda, boom dee odda, Boom dee odda, boom dee odda

I love tornadoes
I love arachnids
I love hot magma
I love the giant squids
I love the whole world
It's such a brilliant place
Boom dee odda, boom dee odda Boom dee odda, boom dee odda
Boom dee odda, boom dee odda Boom dee odda, boom dee odda

Cool. YouTube comes to the rescue again: I Love the World (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5BxymuiAxQ).
Also lists the credits there and says the composer is Brian Chapman with music by Beacon Street Studios. Thanks for posting about this! I never would've seen it.

! If you use a Mac, can you tell me how you did that? I would dearly love to toss that song into my music collection and listen to it on days when I feel like I hate the world.

Aaaaaand you just flashed me back to the final days of sixth grade, when a bunch of us worldly-wise eleven year-olds sang this around a campfire. Hell, it's so vivid right now I can even smell the pine needles on the ground.

Thanks!

I learned that song as a round when I was a Camp Fire Girl (many years ago). We used different words:

I love the mountains,
I love the rolling hills
I love the flowers
I love the daffodils
I love the fireside when all the lights are low
Boom dee odda, boom dee odda Boom dee odda, boom dee odda
Boom dee odda, boom dee odda Boom dee odda, boom dee odda

It's kinda neat to have the song back in the front of my head. Thanks.

As I said to [livejournal.com profile] greendalek, I should have known the Discovery Channel was a-filking. *laugh* Would you believe I never heard this before? I have to go learn it now.
