Watching the Oscars always makes me think archaeological sites and objects are worth preserving from pillage and destruction not least so they can tell us and our even-better-equipped descendants about the past, and lets me believe that I never knew I had curls before. I always pictured my unrelaxed hair as some undifferentiated fuzz that needed relaxing to resolve into separate hairs. And I found out that the kind of relaxer I wanted actually existed, all this time (it's called a texturizer, and it just loosens the curls a little, it doesn't straighten them). It's ironic; I went to my friends' wedding and have hardly talked about said friends so far in my account; I'd better start already. I mean, I have never seen a better ring-bearer than R2D2, or heard music more majestic than themes from Star Wars played on a huge organ. Watching H come up the aisle in a dress the color of the glow, evenings, at the end of their tails. Cook as desired. White wine, butter, and garlic are all suggested accompaniments.
I don't ever intend to cook snails without a good reason (just not interested) but the Minoans loved them so I definetely want to know why. What caused her so much emotional distress as a child? Why and how does she think having a gay father did so?
I really wish that people in the US conflate race, ethnicity, class, and culture, as if those four features of a person's existence were the same thing. *giggle*
