Music: Mixes and Memes

My laptop's music capabilities are going to be the utter death of me, and I'll die happy. I've rediscovered the joy of making mixes, and iTunes threatens to supply me with all the songs I loved as a teenager which are best left forgotten.
Well, not all of them, which is a good thing.
At any rate, I'm thinking of making a Sun Moon and Stars mix, and a Christmas Carols mix based on my carol posts last December. Also, here's a cute little Music Meme, which I got from
karadin:
Seven songs I've been greatly enjoying lately:
"The Statue Got Me High", They Might Be Giants. I loved TMBG when I was in college, have listened to my Flood CD for years, then found myself humming "The Statue Got Me High" from memory, bought Apollo 18, and have been energized by this and related songs ever since.
"Star Sisters", Urban Tapestry. I should write and send something nice to the wonderful musical ladies of Urban Tapestry, and ask for the lyrics to this. Continuance and links through history and fiction treated as fact (or more precisely, viewed as fact from a POV within the fictional universe) both delight me, and this song, about the history of the ships named Enterprise, has both.
"Falling Free", Tom Smith. Quaddies, oppressed races, freedom, four part harmonies. I love this song so very much.
"Legend of a Cowgirl", Imani Coppola. Some years ago a boyfriend I briefly had gave me a mix he made for me as a Christmas/Birthday present. He didn't actually know me that well, and has doubtless forgotten me since, but the mix is really spot on, and I listen to it a lot. This is, simply put, one of my favorite songs from it, and a great song to get stuff done by.
"Jack Daw", Avalon Rising.
cadhla turned me on to Avalon Rising, and I am so glad she did. I love driving rhythms and celtic rock (go fig) and the theme of Jack Daw bearing some of the burdens of the world in a very different way than the Saviour I was taught about as a child did.
"Acts of Creation" Echo's Children A friend of mine wants me to perform this song this weekend at Concertino, and going over it to do so has reminded me of how much I love the song, and Echo's Children's work in general.
"Ray of Light", Madonna. Because I'm an absolute sucker for light imagery.
