As these things go.

Last night I headed to the old apartment. I didn't see WD; he was out on his bike, enjoying the wonderful weather, which is good. He sounds better when he's been riding. I did unfortunately see the troll downstairs, who was emerging from her lair but turned around when she saw me. Good.

I found that Silhouettes, a company which makes beautiful affordable clothes, cannot follow shipping directions . Idjits. If I hadn't chanced to find my package there before the local kleptomaniac did (I've had packages vanish at that building) I'd've been out $150 of clothing. Their dresses are lovely but I'm never ordering from them again.

Anyway. Laden with stuff, including my clothes and a bag of assorted shelf-stable foodstuffs for the Canned Food Drive at the school this week, I caught a cab home, showered, hung out with Wolf, and helped Tigerlily prepare for the clothing swap (she did most of the work, to be honest).

Clothing swaps are fun. Having a houseful of one's cute friends wandering about in their underwear is fun. :D I even found some nifty clothing, and many the hair frob! Alas, I had to go to bed, and fell asleep listening to people talking and laughing.

What a beautiful morning. For the first day this year I wore nothing but indoor clothes on my commute. I was a little chilly, but nothing I couldn't stand, and it was just lovely and refreshing to be in such warm spring air. The bus driver for one of my buses was scratching off a lottery ticket, and I wished her luck; she won $40 on a $20 ticket, so hey! Then she told me and her friends on the bus about her husband's surprise birthday gift, a trip to the Mississippi on a paddleboat, how she's arranged for his time off from his job and everything. Heh, nice gift. :)

Alas, something had to go wrong. I was lugging my bag of donated food with me, wondering if a bag of mostly condiments and sauces was really appropriate, when I dropped it. A moment's cautious investigation turned up seemingly just one survivor, the jar of anchovies, and I wasn't going to fish it out of a mess of broken glass and spicy sauces with my bare fingers. So I had to discard a bag of what had been food in glass jars and now was a well-sauced glass salad. *sigh* I guess that settled the matter. If I hadn't donated other food I'd be really upset, but I already brought in a bagful of things like macaroni-and-cheese and canned meats and fish, so I guess it's OK.

Besides, the morning has its consolations. One of the senior girls just showed me a complicated, spectacular mathematical model that is apparently made up of five cubes, that she built of paper and markers. It was just *delightful*. I wish I could have put a picture here.

Anyway. Back to my day. :)
