And for the finale to my month of WIP Amnesty:
Title: Say The World
Rating: As it is: PG-13 As it was intended to be: NC-17 with warnings
Characters/Pairing/Threesome/Etc: James Kirk/Leah McCoy, Jenny Kirk/Leah McCoy
Content Advisory: Mirrorverse. Consent issues, violence, adventure, etc.
Prompt/Plotbunny/Summary: When Leah meets Jenny.
Notes: I really wish I'd managed to finish this one, but I just.... ran out of oomph.
Leah recrosses her legs, leans back into the uncomfortably slick seat, and sighs. She can feel herself getting older with each second dragging by, as Kirk and Scott and a couple of junior engineers fiddle with the blinking, beeping, conical device they've set up on the transporter pad, carefully adapting it to the slightly different system. This is Kirk's Warp-capable personal yacht, a gift from those terrifying bipedal tiger-things -- Kazans? Kizins? Kitins? She can't remember right now. The seats may work with fur but for a Human they're too smooth, the systems are a bit different than Imperial standard, and Leah has way too much to do today to cool her heels waiting around for this little project.
Except, of course, Kirk dragged her here, and she can feel the marks of his fingers rising in bruises on her upper arm. She wasn't even pulling rank -- M'Benga honestly wanted to be the medic for this mission, because the idea of parallel universes has energized what's left of his imagination. Whenever she thinks about it Leah just feels tired, because Temelae, now on the Excelsior, dropped her a line to add some not-for-public-consumption details about their incident with duplicates from a 'Mirror' universe, that the alternates seemed to have some kind of moral code that made them act somewhere between weaklings and sweethearts. "Like you," Temelae said to Leah, and the thought that there could be anywhere where people are less brutal than this goddamn Empire lights up a tiny corner of her weary soul. It takes energy to crush that hope out, but she knows better than to let it show, before Kirk sees it and crushes it for her.
Eyes closed, listening to Kirk's voice rise and fall, eager and cheerful and occasionally just sharp enough to make the lesser engineers whimper, Leah daydreams absently about sending Joanna to a softer universe. To judge by the reports from Jellico Academy, full of stellar grades and triumphant fights, her daughter's adapting far too well to this one, but it's not like Leah can scold Chapel for helping Joanna grow into exactly who she needs to be to do better than her mother has. It's been seven years now, and Kirk calls for Leah only once or twice a week these days, filling most of his nights with a steady stream of Ensigns and Yeomen and planetside pickups. She can use the time to heal, as her aging skin bruises more easily, but sometimes she lies awake and thinks. When he finally tires of her completely... Leah wonders what she really feels about that eventuality. In the private darkness of her mind she can admit there are things about him she'd miss.
Assuming he'll give her the chance to miss him. Her lips twist with her thought; Kirk's rather more likely to end their alliance with a bang than a whimper. Sometimes she considers killing him, a distant daydream she tried once and they both know she won't again. Sometimes she looks up at him as pain constricts her vision and wonders how he might kill her. Sometimes she wonders if she'll smile.
Kirk's "Doctor McCoy!" rips through her thoughts, and Leah jerks upright and nearly slides off the damn seat. "Pleasant daydreams?" He leans over her, smirking as he reaches down for her wrists to pull her up, because why would he pass up a chance to manhandle her?
She manages to cling to her medkit as he hauls her to her feet. "Just reviewing everything that's waiting for me on our return, Captain." There's a pile, including deciding on a new Head Nurse before either of the top choices tries to secure the position by killing the other. Kirk just gives her his usual sunbright grin and jerks her over to where he wants her, placing her beside Scott, who gives her his usual appreciative leer.
Leah rolls her eyes and settles her feet. Kirk steps out in front of them, directing the Security officers to either side as he says, "Remember, whomever you see come off this transporter may have the same face as someone you know, but they are not that person. Treat them as the extremely dangerous enemy agent they are." He steps back, beside Leah, and gestures to Scott. "Whenever you're ready, Scotty."
"Aye, aye, Captain! Let's see what fish we catch!" As the device's blinking and beeping speed up, the transporter panel flickers under his fingers until a familiar whirl of light condenses into a twisting column, and despite herself Leah watches with interest, wondering what poor unfortunate they'll pluck from a better world into this one.
The column of light fades into individual threads again, whirling around a wobbling humanoid figure in black knee boots, a short command gold tunic and honey-golden hair, fair hemoglobin-pink skin and an apparently female body. The woman collapses to the transport pad, bright hair streaming, and two Security officers step forward and grab her arms. For a moment her head hangs, and Leah wonders if she survived the trip, stepping forward to help --
Kirk catches her arm, as if he didn't waste her morning dragging her along for just this reason, and Leah opens her mouth to say as much when the woman lifts her head, a familiar angle to her jaw, and opens her eyes.
Shocking, brilliant blue eyes.
Everyone gasps and does the same double-take Leah's doing, glancing from Kirk to the woman in command gold and back again. Kirk's own eyes widen as if to help them make the match, then crinkle as he throws his head back laughing. "Oh, holy shit," he chortles, "this is awesome. What's your name?"
Her matching eyes narrowed and angry, the woman gets her feet under herself as if she could yank away from the Security goons anytime she chose. "Jennifer Titania Kirk, Captain of the USS Enterprise," she says, voice ringing with authority, mezzo to Kirk's tenor. "Who the hell--?" she asks, sweeping the room with those eyes, her voice hitching when her glance reaches Leah, " -- the hell are you?"
"Hi, Jenny," Kirk says, grinning his widest, "I'm Captain James Tiberius Kirk of the real Enterprise. Welcome to the Terran Empire."
* ** ** * ** ** *
"Are you comfortable, Captain Jenny?" Kirk asks Jennifer Titania, who's strapped into the seat beside him, her arms cinched down at her sides. "You'll tell me if those straps are too tight?" On his other side, Leah keeps her eyes on his fore and middle fingers as she straps them together, to keep from staring at the woman who smoothly countered his grab and broke those fingers before Security could pile back onto her.
"It's Kirk," Jennifer replies, every bit as cheerful as he is, "and you really are an asshole, aren't you?"
Kirk laughs, his hand jerking in Leah's grasp, and she hisses, "Stay still, Captain!"
"Can't really move at the moment," Jennifer answers, and Leah involuntarily glances up. And past Kirk, who's smirking like always, like he doesn't even feel pain, to the identical smirk on Jennifer's face. Or, not identical, not quite, especially when her eyes widen as she returns Leah's stare.
"She means me," Kirk says, turning his wide slanting smile towards Leah. "Didn't you, Bones?" Jennifer's eyes widen further, that same burning blue, her finer eyebrows tilting up, and Leah wonders just what's so shocking about her stupid nickname.
Aloud she just says, "I mean whomever's attached to these fingers I'm trying to set."
Kirk laughs again, reaching across with his other hand to tap Leah's cheek with four light, dangerous fingertips. "Whatever you say, Doctor McCoy." He pinches her chin between his thumb and his first two fingers, and she obediently leans in to kiss him. It's light and quick, and when Leah looks past him again, Jennifer's eyes are narrowed but soft. "I wonder," Kirk continues, turning back to Jennifer, "what's it like to kiss yourself?"
Leah bites her lip and ties off the splint. Jennifer smiles wider as Kirk leans in, edged with insincerity, tilting her head just so. Then she quick-reverses and headbutts him in a spray of blonde hair, and he yelps as he reels back, clutching his forehead.
"Why don't you go fuck yourself?" Jennifer asks, almost sweetly. Leah bites her lip harder, between fear and a smile. All around them, the crew ostentatiously ignore the little scene.
Kirk laughs, still rubbing his forehead, and Jennifer laughs too, the same crazy arpeggio. "Good one," he says, and Leah's tired heart hammers faster with all the warning she doesn't dare say. "But mine's better. Do you know what this is?" he asks, unclipping his Agonizer, and Leah looks down. She hates watching this. She hates even more watching him do this.
"You didn't drag me all this way just to shoot me," Jennifer says, as cocksure as Kirk ever is.
"Of course not," he agrees pleasantly. "This isn't a phaser." Leah shuts her eyes a moment before she hears Jennifer's strangled scream and her limbs thrashing against the straps. Jennifer stops screaming long before Leah knows Kirk's stopped Agonizing her, but her breath sobs raggedly in her throat, her heels keep hammering her seat.
Leah clenches her fist, and doesn't beg Kirk to stop, and counts the seconds by her own pulse.
At thirty-five Leah hears a relieved gasp, and Kirk's triumphant chuckle. "This is an Agonizer," he says, and Jennifer huffs over a scraping sound, polymer on cloth. Leah glances over, and Kirk's got it turned sideways in his hand, trailing the edge of its case down over Jennifer's breast as she quivers, face gone pale, gasping through bared teeth. "Fun little toy, causes no permanent damage. I can use it on you as much as I like." He presses it to her thigh, and Jennifer stiffens, biting off a groan. Leah doesn't duck quickly enough, and Jennifer catches her with that familiarly arresting blue gaze, with unfamiliar pleading in her eyes.
Leah tears her gaze away and looks down again. "I've got its big brother on my ship," Kirk continues as he lets up, as Leah listens to Jennifer's gulping breaths. "That's an Agony Booth, in case you were wondering. That sound familiar either?"
"The Federation I serve doesn't use torture," Jennifer says, steadfast, but still a little winded.
"Pussies," Kirk agrees. "Must be chaos over there without any proper discipline, but soon enough you're going to tell me all about it. Until then, behave, Captain Jenny, or I'll pop you into my little Booth where you can feel this delightful tickle over every last millimeter of your hot body. Is that clear?"
"Better men than you have tried,"
[think of something sutiably, Kirkishly defiant for Jen to say, and Kirk grins and pats her knee, then settles in for the ride.]
[scene change.Jenny to brig, Kirk and Leah to ready room, Kirk musing on Jenny. Tells Leah to scan her and stand by to put her back together after interrogation. [Pity Spock's not here, etc. Window of opportunity was 39.25 hours long.] He accuses her of liking Jenny because she's him. He stops it, sends Jenny with Leah to Sickbay
Scene after that: Leah scans Jenny, and looks over scans and sees that she was starved and then forced-grown via her bone rings. Convo #1.
Notes:
[scene change. Leah is setting Kirk's broken fingers, on far side of Kirk as he chats with Jennifer, who's strapped into her seat. When they arrive he tries to touch her, etc.
[he tries to touch her, she breaks his two longest fingers, he has her agonized (sounds of pain gritted out from between her teeth as she tries not to scream) and Leah pleads for them to stop as she sets Kirk's fingers, citing distraction from the noise. He accuses her of liking Jenny because she's him. He stops it, sends Jenny with Leah to Sickbay.
My Mirror Leah meetsJamie Jenny Kirk
When another ship gets the Mirror, Mirror experience, the Enterprise decides to capture and question its counterpart's captain, using an ion storm. Kirk is amused to find his counterpart is 'a girl' ; at one point he wonders what it'll be like to fuck himself, at another he says "being a girl's one thing, but that's being a pussy". When he goes to kiss Jen she headbutts him. Jen (Jennifer Titania Kirk of the USS Enterprise) contacts Leah and Leah falls for her and helps her get away (knocking people out,[questioning Riley for ion storm information]).
They steal a shuttle and Leah sends her back, then waits for Kirk.
Notes from talking to Josh:
Leah is brought along to treat whomever they pull through the ion storm.
Why Spock isn't there ATM -- they had to go with when the storms were right. Spock will be back to mindmeld with Jen and strip her mind in 2 days.
Timeline:
*First meeting on shuttle
* Exam (aftermath of, really.) (convo notes: Jen is comfy being naked. Leah gives her her uniform back and she's surprised, says, "I thought you'd keep me naked, you know, psychological torture," and Leah says, "I'm not a torturer." Hoping Kirk won't think to order her.
[Jen asks if Leah has a brother named Leonard.
Leah tells her her dad's name, birthday, Jen says "you're the female version of my Bones', Leah reacts to nickname
Also: Leah sees that Jen was starved, asks why, Jen cites Tarsus IV, Leah looks up an abandoned colony - governor tried to save everyone, they all starved -- Kirk was in Imperial school then, being guaranteed a place as the son of a dead hero -- Jen says Tarsus would've done him good. Leah asks how she's so tall, Jen says they overdid bioengineering a growth spurt after starvation on Tarsus stunted her]
* Interrogation. [background -- Leah not present]
* Leah/Kirk scene. Kirk accuses her of comparing them.
*Patching up/ convo #2. Jenny notes that Leah's mouth is very tense. This eventually leads to: Leah says that she doesn't believe in a softer world, just one where people hide it better. Jen blinks, then vehemently disagrees. Talks about how the world is made by the people in it, her determination to improve the world. Discuss what Leah is to Kirk. "I'm his." "What, did he buy you from the Doctor Shop? He doesn't own you!"
* more interrogation
* convo #3 (Jenny wants to kill Kirk -- he tortured an ensign to get her to talk. She says she needs to get off this ship because she can't really see a way of surviving after killing him, and she's not actually suicidal.)
*in convo #3 Jenny asks for help, Leah tells Jenny it would be treason -- defying the Captain is treason -- and leaves.
*Leah thinks about it. Kirk will tire of her and she expects he'll kill her. She'll be no use to Joanna or anyone. She can help save a better world.
*Leah goes to get Jenny (says 'couldn't leave you here looking all pathetic') and takes her back to Sickbay (Jenny manacled)
* Discussion of getting plans for Jenny to take back. She wants to copy them from computer; Leah knows the only copy is kept on whomever's working on it. Scotty's location: in turbolift.
* In turbolift, Scotty is distracted by Jenny, and Leah hypos him. They take the chip he has with the device's specs on it (not on computer system, only on chip, Leah overheard Kirk give order about it earlier)
*use Jenny's DNA plus Y chromosome contributed by Leah to steal Kirk's ultrafast/warp capable shuttle (locked to Kirk's biosignature) (unmanacle Jenny once onboard, or Jenny unmanacles herself, showoff.)
*[Way to sneak off ship] <-- the crew think Kirk is heading back to the nebula with the ion clouds.
*Head to far side of ion cloud.
* convo comment: Also have Jenny note that she's sorry she didn't get to see Spock -- Old Spock told her his Mirror counterpart brought down the Empire. She says Old Spock will be so disappointed in her.
*Sex (Jenny says, "Bones, come here," and kisses her. Leah says, "here, now?" Jenny says, "All we can do is wait, our adrenaline's pumping, it's the perfect time for a fuck." Leah says, "You're the exact same," Jenny says, "Some things are universal." or "Take a chance on me.")
(Choreography: Jenny strokes Leah to orgasm, and Leah cries. Jenny kisses her and pets her to calm, and then they tangle legs and tribadism, and Leah twists her hips like she's dancing, and Jenny undulates above her, into her, and they both come again.)
*argument -- Leah won't leave Joanna. Leah thinks Kirk won't kill her (Leah). Jenny promises to come back for Joanna but they have to leave now.
*Leah fake-agrees, lies, sends shocked Jen -- McCoy has learned to lie.
[see notes for right after that, and opening of scene where Kirk catches up]
*Kirk catches up. Leah stands up, pieces of device all around her feet. Note how she sees his hidden worry by having learned that look in Jenny's eyes. She looks at him and his phaser and his eyes, and smiles.
*Last scene 1: McCoy fixing up Jen as Jen tells him about her adventure, and how disturbed she was by her doppelganger, how much all McCoys love her.
*Last scene 2 -- Spock leaves after mindmeld; Leah has been thinking at him about A Better World. Kirk hits Leah once, waving agonizer at her, saying "don't make me do that to you again." Leah says "don't meddle with the other universe." He tells her she should be in the Agony Booth, rants that he'll have to kill the next three people who defy him; she doesn't say anything, he breaks and begs her not to make him kill her, and she knows she's won. Last line is her saying, "Yes, Jim."
Jenny lusts after Kirk's yacht and says, "I can't stand thinking of my Enterprise in his hands. I always thought a guy version of me would be a bit of an ass, an egotistical bastard, but he takes the cake."
"You should come with me because I love you."
"You don't love me you love my -- sputters -- identical fraternal twin."
"Of course I do! I love him, I love you! How could I not love Dr. Bones McCoy?" And says how awesome Leah is to not be evil in this evil universe.
Leah looks at her and she's everything about Kirk she sometimes looks at sideways, like looking at the Sun; that she sometimes admires. Everything she kind of loves and so little of what she doesn't.
When Leah doesn't go with Jenny she considers just letting the self destruct run, then remembers she stayed to not leave Joanna behind and she doesn't want to die. So she shuts it off and gets to work.
Scene cut.
"It's like surgery in reverse" (find Becky's essay on surgery) She demolishes it methodically with a wrench and the phaser, and then Kirk and co catch up. He asks her what she's doing, and she smiles and says, "Waiting for you, darlin'."
Destroying the device is the reverse of evaluating a trauma patient, figuring out what to do first. She takes it apart, then fuses bits with her phaser (lifted from Scotty), smashing it smaller and smaller as she works. When Kirk arrives he asks her what the hell she thinks she's doing, and she says, "Acting in the best interests of my patient, Captain."
Moment of lucidity during great pain. She had one during Joanna's birth, and she has one now. She's been screaming -- it fucking hurts. She's never been so exquisitely aware of every single goddamn point of innervation in her body as she is now with them all afire like overloaded, melting wires, waves of pain radiating from the Agonizer pressed to her right shoulder. [describe the pain, but then the lucid moment, and then Kirk stops and she gasps and shudders and thinks about how one never quite remembers pain. He presses her to the floor and she thinks maybe he will kill her but he whispers in her ear instead.]
Kirk pressing his cheek to hers and saying brokenly <-- find more evocative way of stating that) "If you defy me again I'll have to kill you. Don't make me kill you. Please." <-- whispered. Then, "That's an order, Bones." She stammers due to aftershock-shudders, "Yes, Jim," and smiles as he gathers her up. (Make it longer and rearrange -- she doesn't rrespond, and he says, "that's an order, McCoy," and he pushes her back to look at her, and she expects him to threaten her, to threaten Joanna, but he can't scare her anymore; instead he breaks, he hugs her again and whispers in her ear, "please, Leah, please," and that's when she says, "yes, Jim."
Jen asks Leah, "What did he do to you, Bones?" and Leah thinks of him handing her to Cupcake and Pike, making her deny medication, making her kill, and the last time she saw Joanna, four months ago, when he tied her to a chair and Agonized her until Joanna stopped screaming and instead dispassionately watched her writhe.

Leah's full name: LeahHenrietta Lenore McCoy, married name Darnell
Discussion of Vulcan surviving in M!Universe, Leah and Jenny debate:
graceandfire on what being Agonized feels like:
And then he felt Kirk’s hand on his shoulder, bracing and restraining. The hard pressure of the agonizer against his back and then pain like a spike of acid shooting deep, a colony of fire ants burrowing past skin, eating away into nerves and bone and….
He bucked up, he fought. He couldn’t help fighting, trying with desperate moves to buck off the immovable pressure that kept him kneeling, he…god, stop, stopstopstop…
And then it did, the sudden absence of pain leaving him hollow. His breath came in harsh gasps as he shuddered at just the memory of it.
Kirk’s voice was in his ear, soft breath a puff of coolness against Leonard’s overheating skin. “That was twenty seconds of a localized agonizer, McCoy. Now I want you to think about being locked in a booth, that pain hitting every, single, part of you.” The deactivated device trailed over him and Leonard flinched at each soft brush against his body. “Your arms, your chest, your eyes, your balls…” the agonizer came to rest against Leonard’s dick and he froze, sweat beading on his skin.

Jenny - Leah convo thoughts, assorted:
Kirk contemplating Jenny, and Leah saying "there's a reason you get told to go fuck yourself" to focus his attention on her
Jenny noting that to Leah ("He keeps looking at me," etc)
Jenny asking Leah if she were kidnapped from another good universe and Leah snapping at her to stop asking all these questions.
Three days, three visits, three conversations and Jenny asks Leah for her help and Leah gives it.
Third convo: Jenny arrives for a checkup and says she wants to kill Kirk. She looks up with blue fire in her eyes and Leah takes a step back. Jenny says 'this is why,' referring to Leah's fear, and describes Kirk torturing a crewmember to get her to talk. She says to Leah 'come with me,' and Leah cites others trying to use her against Kirk and Jenny says 'I want you to come with me because I love you." Leah says "you love my opposite sex clone" and Jenny says "I'm a Kirk, you're a McCoy, of course I love you. Even your Kirk loves you." Leah hears that and remembers seven years of assorted stuff and chokes. Jenny says "and he's hurting you. come with me."
When Leah and Jenny have sex: When she and Jenny are having sex -- when she comes she cries, and Jenny holds her and says "oh God," and "it's okay," and she feels those strong arms and soft breasts and looks up into blue eyes that aren't laser hot but blue as a Georgia sky, and cries and kisses Jenny and cries. (Imply that it rattles her down to her core, through all the cracks Kirk put in her, but balmingly.)
put Jobson's Amen on the music list, for the feel of that song.
Note afterwards, when it's time to go, Leah still feeling the aftereffects of Jenny's skillfully weilded fingers.
When Leah and Jenny are about to leave this universe: they set autodestruct together; they get up on platform; as Leah feels the tingle she jumps, and Jenny reaches out for her and vanishes. The last Leah sees is her huge, blue-star eyes.
Leah thinks of leaving on the autodestruct, but turns it off (recoiling from death) and destroys the device methodically. Crying, remembering her first dead patient's shallower and shallower breaths under her hands, then getting hold of herself and destroying it. Jenny's scent on her hands.
Final Leah scene: "There is a clarity that sometimes comes with pain, Leah
remembers from when she gave birth. When one abruptly detaches from one's screaming, struggling flesh for just a moment." She looks up in that moment through her blurry vision and sees Kirk over her, pressing the agonizer to her shoulder, but what she sees are his eyes just like Jenny's.
Kirk says he has to put her in the Booth, a betrayal like this cannot be tolerated, that he'll have to kill the next three people who cross him and he should kill her. He says, "Leah, why'd you do it? Did you really like her better? Do you want a blonde girl? I'll get you a blonde girl." and Leah says, "she asked me," He says, "Then I'm asking you. Don't make me do this to you again. I'll have to kill you." He ends up begging, uses her name, and she says, "Yes, Jim."
And then coda, Jenny and Mccoy, McCoy checking her over, she says she's fine, his counterpart took care of her. -- no, switch last two scenes. Jenny and McCoy, then Leah and Kirk.
Some Jim-lines recycled from notes elsewhere:
'his other girl is waiting for him to direct her course '.
Jim's looking forward to whatever insane kinks Scotty will crimp into the laws of physics over the next six days.
story he tells maybe:
Jim says "you do know if you kill me my ship will turn your planet into a smooth glassy marble." Assassin falters, lunges triggering something, now or never, Jim knifes him and shoves him away just as explosion happens, is injured.

My Mirror Leah meets
When another ship gets the Mirror, Mirror experience, the Enterprise decides to capture and question its counterpart's captain, using an ion storm. Kirk is amused to find his counterpart is 'a girl' ; at one point he wonders what it'll be like to fuck himself, at another he says "being a girl's one thing, but that's being a pussy". When he goes to kiss Jen she headbutts him. Jen (Jennifer Titania Kirk of the USS Enterprise) contacts Leah and Leah falls for her and helps her get away (knocking people out,
They steal a shuttle and Leah sends her back, then waits for Kirk.
* more interrogation
