Eee, I am so glad you got a chance to read this, in part selfishly because your comments are always so wonderful. And have I thanked you lately for my soundtrack to which I wrote this indeed?
I am soft and squishy, but I've looked into a lot of hard eyes, I guess. And oh, names are the best detail available to a writer, aren't they? I started writing this with 'Kirk' but I realized that was wrong -- he's Jim to himself, he was Jim to his mother, Pike calls him Jim during sex. (I think he wishes Bones would, but he knows she won't.) And, well, the world belongs to him, isn't that just the way of it? Or so he thinks, and so I tried to portray him.
Poor Bones is so awesome and so beleaguered; that rape scene kind of -- stunned me, too. I stared at it and boggled at myself, but it was necessary in the story. I need to get around to writing her Moment of Awesome already.
