This story is not what it should have been. None of the stories I wrote for this iteration of rounds_of_kink really are except maybe "Standoff" and "Perks", because I bit off more than I could chew and next time will have to be firmer with myself about not taking on too many prompts. With this one I especially feel it because.... there's a layer of perception I couldn't break through, somehow, that because of the subject I really feel I should have. I almost didn't post this, and agonized over whether it might come off as trivializing. I'm still worried about that.
But. The best can be the enemy of the good, so I decided to go ahead and post it (besides, I missed posting one of the prompts I signed up for already, missing two would have felt horribly flaky.) At any rate, here it is, imperfect, like its author.
A note on characterization: when I was thinking about an evil Ian Edgerton I thought back to the Rangers from LOTR, whose modern-day descendant he is. One trend I noticed in evil AUs of Aragorn and the occasional other Ranger was that their selflessness became selfishness, their wielding of power for others' sakes became wanton abuse of it for theirs, and their asceticism became hedonism. So I've tried to apply those transformations to him, more or less.
