So, I decided to do another round of Works-In-Progress Amnesty, aka Spring Fiction File Cleaning of stories I'm likely to ever finish. Here goes!
Summary: Slade briefs Dick on their upcoming mission, that is, soiree. Or, Another way things could have gone.
Starts with Slade briefing Dick and Rose on tonight's meeting with Secret Society types. Dick getting into the Secret Society and Slade's trust, kinda. "There's my beautiful girl." Slade says to Rose that she looks so lovely that "you're quite a set, you two. Anything Renegade here can't get for me, my girl can." Dick wurras, saying "wait a minute, she's just a kid," and Slade says, "Don't worry, if I need someone seduced I'll send you to do it." Slade continues, "But I don't tonight, so be friendly but not too friendly. Remember whose boy you are." Dick opens his mouth to protest, and can't, and Slade kisses him. At end of that scene, "say hi to Luthor for me."
Then, the party, and Dick working it, etc. Horrible reflection of Bruce's parties. People wondering if they know him, etc. Dick trying to look different. Dr. Psycho or Phobia saying that he should tell them more about himself, and him responding charmingly, "it's not polite to use your powers on a fellow Society member." Someone else wondering what Slade would charge for him and Dick saying, "I work for Slade. He doesn't sell my services."
Dick noting politicos who are there, etc, and wishing he had Babs's eidetic memory, wishing she were there, but he'll do his best, as he makes mental notes.

After party, Slade takes Dick to bed and fade to black. Dick gets up when Slade's asleep and goes to the computer and works it all out; mindwipe machine, everything. Slade would hear him walking so he climbs up the walls.
[Slade taking Dick to bed: Slade pushes Dick down on the bed, tears his tuxedo jacket and shirt open, finds an unscarred patch of skin over Dick's ribs, and bites down. (Maybe binds Dick's arms with the shredded clothes.) Dick arcxches and an electric tingle up his veins.

In scene in bed: Slade says, "don't take Rose into Bludhaven on X day". Dick asks why, Slade says, "bad stuff's gonna happen, but you're a bad guy now, you don't care, right?" and Dick has to brazen it out. Slade then expresses misgivings at the magnitude of what's planned, shrugs them off, and distracts himself by kissing/biting/molesting Dick. And fucks him, not described but clearly stated. Dick lies awake afterwards and figures out how to get a message to Oracle, etc.
This is the way Slade sleeps, so lightly, and dreaming of shooting someone.

Dick leaves Rose a note [giving Slade time to get up and catch him--- note Dick thinking he's being followed, prickle between his shoulder blades, but turns to see no one there. Dick thinks prickle must be residual beard burn], but as in ficlet Slade lets him go if he'll come straight back.
Ficlet notes:
Dick climbs down from the ceiling and is getting dressed under a window when he hears, "and just where are *you* going?" Slade's in a robe, unbelted. Make it clear with hints that Slade and Dick had had sex previously; mention Dick being able to smell him. Dick says he's going to the roof for fresh air. Slade grabs him by the hair and Dick thinks it's because Slade [unlike him] actually got some sleep and also that that's a lousy excuse, Grayson, when a quarter million people are depending on you.
Slade pulls him round and slams him against the wall, saying, "we don't wanna wake Rose, do we?" His fist is around Dick's neck, thumb on his pulse, and Dick says, "if you're gonna break my neck you're holding it wrong."
Slade says, "you know," and Dick doesn't know if Slade means the plan to mindwipe the heroes or blow up the city or both, but the thumb's on his windpipe so he just nods. Slade looks at him hard, then smirks a little and says, "smart boy," and letting him go says, "Go. Before I change my mind." And Dick is up and out the window before he can let himself think about it.
End story with Dick on roof of a post-saving-Bludhaven-and-defusing-the-Crisis party (he was invited by Roy; shows Tim a bruise/black eye and says "that was my apology"]. Dick telling Tim why he can't go down there. (He told Deathstroke he'd come back.) Gives Tim apology for Bruce, Babs, everyone. (For the Dick/Tim conversation see http://katarik.livejournal.com/10076.html) Then he goes back to Deathstroke, who says, "you should've let them mindwipe the heroes, give you a clean start if the Bat forgot about you" and gives him the serum. He doesn't know how he'll ever look any of them in the face again; Barbara, Bruce, Alfred. But Slade looks at him, and he leans forward to kiss the man.
For "Forests of the Night": When considering denouement consider Slade and Adelaide. And whether Slade can kill Dick. Maybe Dick gets the message out and Slade's thinking of killing him and they have a conversation much like the one that ends NW 115, where Rose is the lynchpin. Be clear that it's not just that Slade can't kill Dick because they're sleeping together; he's plenty capable of killing someone he's sleeping with, even if he does find Dick rather dangerous to reason. Maybe Dick gives him the impetus to go against the Society's plan, and an idea for where to send Rose and Sophia. [Sends Sophia to Amy: "if you don't tell the Society I won't". Mention plan to mindwipe the heroes, etc. Try and decide what Slade thinks about it, or if he knows that the thingy isn't actually for mindwiping, how much he believes Luthor-who's-actually-Alex-Luthor.
Slade lets Dick go to stop something he disapproves of himself, namely, the bombing of a whole town. Have him say, "and kid, if you live, come straight back."

Note Slade/Dick scene from latest ficlets. A story where Dick balances a party of the kind he learned as Bruce's ward, his relationship with Slade, teaching Rose, and finding out what the SS is up to by hacking various computers.
It was pretty obvious that Devin Grayson was intending to write Dick into the Secret Society oif Supervillains. #114 or 115 had a cover of Dick shaking hands with Lex Luthor. DC made her not do it, so she made Slade and Dick break up instead. I've been wondering since what would have happened... So I might write about them. a short domestic scene. Slade briefing Dick before a SSoSV meeting, saying things like "Doesn't Rose look gorgeous tonight? Between you and my beautiful girl here no one stands a chance." Dick says, "ack, she's just a kid!" and Slade says, "don't worry, if I need someone seduced I'll send you to do it."Typical Slade evility

Slade's POV on Dick, in the Forests of the Night AU. Slade messes with Dick, teases him about his 'job', about sending him to kill someone, about how bitterly Rose bitched that she didn't get to kill someone. Dick is fun, could be an awesome merc, is a bit dangerous to Slade's reason.
Have Slade mention in a quiet moment wishing Wintergreen could see Dick as he is under Slade's tutelage, see Slade with his own beautiful boy. But then, he should continue mockingly, Dick's a *man*, isn't he?
Lots of Bruce in this. Slade's responses to Dick's Bruce-issues.
