And two for Yuletide, but those will be listed next year.

Overall Thoughts: Well, I can definetely discern some trends. One is that a project may take me a long time but it'll prove fruitful; the Femslash ficlets, A Certain Star, the March LOTR Drabbles, and the June Ficlet Batch were all written as one project and divvied up for posting.

Fandom-specific trends: In DC Comics I've written a lot of AU work involving Steph, but then my reasons for that are pretty obvious; if fanfic isn't for doing well by characters one feels canon has wronged, what is it for? Meanwhile, in LOTR I've been focusing on original characters (and characters who are all but original such as Pervinca). I think I may have said most of what I can think of about the canon characters (especially since what I'd have to say is so far out of sync with most of the fandom), but the expansive world and all its people continue to endlessly fascinate me.

Also, well, the only months my output wasn't utterly pathetic were January through March and June. Between personal stuff, LJ's attacks on fandom, and fandom's infighting, I spent several months not writing very much, and much of what I wrote was very short in order to help myself just get it done and posted. While I like drabbles and ficlets, I don't want such a big proportion of my output to be made up of such small stories; hopefully in this coming year I can write more and write longer stories.

My best story of this year: Probably A Certain Star, especially if I define 'best' as 'most fully conveyed the story I envisioned in my head'. I really love all the things I said about Kory and the people around her with that set of stories, even if on the surface they probably look like PWPs.

My favourite story of this year: For DC Comics, "Play for Mortal Stakes" is a story I wanted to see exist so badly I wrote it and then loved it so much I had to make it my birthday present to my friends. Meanwhile, "Snare" and "Misadventures" are tied for LOTR; I have been getting heavily into the hobbits' experiences during the Year of Troubles, and in those two I gave myself the most freedom to wonder what that year may have been like.

Story of mine most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion: Well, I still wish my frelling ungrateful recipient had ever thanked me for "Singing on Saturday", but life is like that.

Most fun story to write: "A Step Across Skies" just had to exist, and made me smile every single moment I was typing it. And then there's "Bodies of Touch and Taste", with Jason Todd, two hot heroines, and sex pollen; how could that be anything but great heaping gobs of fun?

Story with the single sexiest moment: Well, "Beyond the Mere Design" was intended to be one seamless mindblowingly sexy moment, for both Tim and the readers, but how could I not mention Grace and Kory battling as foreplay in "Femslash Ficlet #9"? Man, I am not good at giving single answers to these questions.

Most "Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story:
There's a lot of competition for this category *blush* (and I shouldn't list candidates, right?) but I think "Empty Things Disguised" wins, since it's the most brutal consensual sex I've yet written.

Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:
"Fire Upon White Walls", because I really had to study the characters, had to think about what makes Elves tick and keep ticking across millennia, in order to write it.

Hardest story to write: "Salad-Head", because there was so much in it I was trying to do that I'd never done before. I still don't think I accomplished nearly all I'd intended.

Biggest Disappointment: "Morning at Crickhollow". That story should have been ten times better. With the great story I was remixing, with the characters I love, with the recipient I adore, it should've been way, way better than it was.

Biggest Surprise: In general, people really like my femslash, more than I tend to expect they will. "Femslash Ficlet #4", "Empty Things Disguised", and "Now, the Matter" were all much more popular than I was anticipating.

Most Unintentionally Telling Story: I ended up putting more unfiltered Ny into "Salad-Head"'s POV character than I had originally meant to. She's not me, but she's more like me than she should be.

Story I haven't yet written, but intend to: I've wanted to write a 5 Things story about the Secret Six ever since 2006's [livejournal.com profile] yuletide ([livejournal.com profile] glossing writes what are officially the best prompts ever). I think this year I just may.
