Sociopolitical Thoughts

browngirlBeing me I've had a lot lately, and being tired I haven't written about many of them.
North Carolina enshrining transphobia in law (they have a HOTLINE to report "wrong bathroom use", way to use the public money for evil), and my perverse desire to go ask Religion Uber Alles sorts and conservatives of my acquaintance what their defense of this new law is (do not go pick fights, self).
The suppositions people think are facts (a discussion where a shooting was blamed on stereotypes of Black people cited as facts, the president of Harpoon Brewing saying that women can't be in finals clubs since we'd "get raped")
Rape as some weird natural disaster that happens rather than an act people choose to perpetrate upon other people (see above)
Beauty and politics (watching a group of talented beautiful natural-haired black tap dancers and thinking about how many people would see them as ugly/coarse/unkempt-haired, and how it's not about personal taste but about sociopolitical constructions of value; watching an ad celebrating fat women as beautiful and thinking similar thoughts)
Who speaks for who (reading an essay by a 'low-functioning' autistic woman calling out the use of 'low-functioning' autistics as a weapon against autistic acceptance and a weapon in defense of cure-seeking; reading a post calling _Hamilton_ racist and hurtful to Black people and all the rebuttals I thought of)
Fellow feeling with angry children on Tumblr (hey, fellow Nosers, remember when I was the Angry Liberal Child on the Nose and everyone else except maybe MB were the Sensible Libertarians arguing with my apparent ridiculousness?) and also anger at them (see second example above, and the kid who I stopped being friends with when she said that an interest in the Persephone-Hades myth was tantamount to supporting rape culture)
.... and there's my alarm to get dressed and go.
