Middle Night Post #1: Dentures
Feb. 1st, 2015 01:44 amIf you use dentures and you're going to be in the hospital and you have any advance warning, appoint someone the guardian of your dentures. You're going to be too busy metabolizing pain meds and riding your adjustable bed up and down. Make sure someone keeps physical hold of your dentures for you.
On Thursday I spent twenty tense minutes using Altavista Babelfish to converse with a rightfully irate young person regarding their parent's missing dentures. I can't think of anything more expensive and easier to lose in a hospital: people think of jewelry, so that gets locked up ahead of time. Dentures tend to get overlooked, get taken out at the last minute, and so to vanish. Please, think of the unit coordinators who will have to fruitlessly search for your dental appliances. Think of your flapping unclad gums. Get someone to keep track of your dentures.
