Mundane Bingo
Jun. 21st, 2010 10:04 amSo, this is mostly a rec, for http://mundane-bingo.dreamwidth.org/ which is currently collecting prompts. "Mundane Bingo is, like Kink Bingo, H/C Bingo, and Schmoop Bingo, a fannish bingo fest devoted to the mundane and trivial events our fannish characters go through. " The description reminds me of the delights of
cereta's Grading Hell Theaters and all those memes where we ask each other, "How would Character X handle Everyday Thing Y?"
It also seems to me that Mundane Bingo could encompass much of the same territory as Schmoop Bingo, and more inclusively: recently, a friend of mine brought to the Schmoop Bingo mods' attention that their holiday prompts included and specified only Christian holidays; the response was condescending and dismissive, and then the entire discussion was hidden from view, likely deleted, unfortunately before my friend or I could take screencaps. Whereas, the mods of Mundane Bingo "actively encourage non-US, non-Christian-centric mundane event prompts." So, I think schmoop revolving around a beautiful Sukkot booth, Diwali fireworks, or a special dish at an Iftar meal or Seder would all fit beautifully into Mundane Bingo's mission.
