Two Political Action Alerts

In California, the proponents of Proposition 8 are working to recall California Supreme Court Chief Justice Ronald George, the author of the In Re Marriage Cases decision granting legal recognition to same-sex marriages, and who is considering the challenges to Proposition 8 now. There is a petition of support for him (albeit lacking certain categories of signatories), and if I find out other ways to fight the effort to deprive him of his position for judging rightly I'll pass the word along.

In Massachusetts, An Act Relative to Gender-Based Discrimination and Hate Crimes that would extend protections from discrimination to transgender people is wending its way through the legislature, and unfortunately it is of course being vigorously attacked. MassEquality provides a modifiable form letter here (if you tell them who you are) and state legislators' contact information can be found here and here.

A Book of Families: Pictures Requested

I almost put this with my previous post, but it seemed to warrant a post of its own.

darlas_mom recently heard this very painful statement from her daughter:

"We're not a real family. We're not like other people's families."

To convince her daughter otherwise, darlas_mom is making a book of images of families, and asks that people to send her pictures of our families, any and all families, the less standard-nuclear the better. So I'm signal-boosting her request.
