I need to not get into so many political debates on a Saturday morning. But be that as it may.

The American Family Association has launched a boycott against Hallmark, because Hallmark has announced plans to make congratulatory cards for same-sex weddings. They have a helpful link set up for writing to Hallmark (which could also be used to, say, send Hallmark encouragement and promises of greeting card purchases), or, if you'd rather not give the AFA any hits, Hallmark's contact info is here. ETA: Hallmark is sensibly blocking the AFA's email barrage, so don't bother with that route.

In other news, the Bush Administration is going ahead with protecting medical professionals who cite 'conscience' as their reason for refusing treatment. A lot of people have mentioned the deaths this will cause; I myself am thinking of the morbidity, the untreated conditions and injuries, the scarring and chronic pain, the wrenched lives. A person can sustain a lot of damage that won't actually kill them but can harm them permanently.

But my thoughts aside: [livejournal.com profile] naamah_darling's post lists several resources for commenting on this rule. So hey, people who think this is a great idea can say so to your legislators and the HHS. Tell them, not me. Meanwhile, those of us who see the rising tide of agony this will cause, here's how to protest.
