Mythbusting

In honor of one of my favorite TV shows.

What are some myths you wish you could bust? For example, one I would love to see out of circulation: "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger." Yeah, sometimes. And sometimes the scars can be crippling, or at least inconvenient. Sometimes whatever it is can soften you up for the next thing to kill you or otherwise take you down.

What are some that you'd like to see go away, some bits of common wisdom that aren't wise, some things 'everyone knows' that are actually false or at least overly broadly applied?
