Today's Vocabulary Term: Parallel Novel

There are times I think I took the wrong electives in school. But, to put it more positively, I love it when I find a word for a concept I've been discussing recently.

You know those novels that are fanfic? They comment upon another work, and their protagonist is usually one of the source work's secondary characters? The literary term for those is "parallel novels"

So now I know what they get called if one gets paid for it.
