The Fountain

So, at the complex where we live, there's a fountain in the parking lot. I've been wondering when the landlord will get around to turning it off, but it just keeps going and going. It's currently a mound of ice with water jets shooting out small holes, which is an amusing architectural statement and may well take an interesting amount of time to thaw; what's more worrisome is how the fountain, overflowing due to ice blockage, has flooded two parking spots with slick clear ice. If the ice slick spreads into the general parking lot it may not be a good situation.

I wonder what the landlord is thinking. Most likely, of course, he's thinking how pleasantly warm Cancun is as he sits back on a deck chair and sips another margarita.
