I had an opportunity to get inexpensive tickets to Haydn's Creation, so WD and I went down to Symphony Hall, gazed at the statues, made each other laugh, and listened to beautiful music.
I rather wish I'd been able to write this last night, when I could have far better described the colorful animated mental images of the creation of the world (rather like an animated version of The Brick Testament) that the music called up in my head, or how thrilling the soprano's voice was, or how impressed I was with the choir's command of dynamics, or how awesome it was to hear the chorus bit from the Fourth Day, which I've sung. WD said it would have been better in the originalGerman Klingon, but I liked being able to understand the words. And we both rolled our eyes at Adam and Eve in love, but even so, the whole work was lovely.
Instead, by the time we got back to WD's (I love the MBTA, but people need to remember that other people are behind them) I kinda fell over.
Still, it was a lovely evening. :) And, among other things, I'm glad that I seem to have enough of a handle of my issues with Christianity that that much sacred music didn't make me twitch. So. *blows kiss to WD*
