I think I want to save this setting.

browngirlSo I just woke up from a dream that was both pleasant and interesting; a large part of it was a tour of a reimagining of the condo complex I live in. I read once about these villages in northern(?) China which are very large round multistorey buildings, shaped rather like bagels. Every family has a set of rooms and the animals are kept communally in the central open space.
I forget the name of the ethnic group who built and lives in those villages, but I think that memory crept into my dream, along with descriptions of self-contained condo complexes from LA I heard over Christmas Brunch. The condo complex I live in was still a somewhat-ring around a central parking lot, but it was much bigger and more interconnected, like an apartment building with hallways and apartments, and a lot of areas that were shared space. Indoor and outdoor playgrounds, chapels(?!) and the parking lot was actually a park/garden, with the actual car parking underground (that was definetely from the LA condo discussion). The walls were all white with green Greek Key designs up where wall met ceiling, and the elevators were tubes that moved individuals using compressed air (dear subconscious, why?).
My dream-self's favorite feature, though, was an indoor park, possibly also underground, landscaped into a couple of little swells, with grass and trees and lights whose spectrum simulated sunshine's and a ceiling mural of a blue sky (that maybe moved?), and building facades along the walls. I think I remember climbing on one and sliding down an awning. (My guide, who is one of my favorite coworkers -- Tigerlily, it was RH -- and a fellow graduate of the college I went to, told me that the architect was a fellow student of our college who flunked out and that this commission was part of getting his life back together. That's not important for the setting so much as for dream interpretation.) The indoor park was for when it was rainy, or just a secluded place, and I felt like I was going to meet someone important there later, but I didn't end up doing so before I woke up.
I kind of like this setting. Maybe I'll use it sometime.
