Sociopolitically Pleased

I woke up feeling much more hopeful today than I have in past days, and then I read this in
supergee's journal and felt even better. John Scalzi on "the first time I actually thought about homophobia was, and the first time it seemed like nonsense to me". I really love it when people tell the stories of transformative epiphanies like this: as ever, there's that wonderful human connection of "I had one of those too!"(my own involves two books I read when I was fourteen, The Last of the Wine and Magic's Pawn); much more importantly and globally, the more people examine and jettison these attitudes in ourselves, the better and more justly we can behave towards each other; plus, I am always inspired by the transformative power of art.
Which is my inappropriately punctuated way of saying how happy this made me. *beam* Even the comments were, at least as of when I finished reading them, heartening and nifty! (So often great posts have comments of disagreement that make one hate humanity all over again.)
